Did you happen to look to see what spring game attendance numbers were in the OP at other schools? 
This one wasn't pushed as much as last season's though.

Last year was a record with over 50,000. We couldn't have that many this season because of renovations.

We had around 50,000 last season. Still a pretty good turnout for a bunch of basketball fans though.
ETA: And as Cat said, I'm pretty sure they limited seating in areas because of renovations. They'll be going on all this season.
