Florida's 2001 team was just as good as their title teams. They had one bad day against Auburn and lost a classic when a very good Tennessee team brought their A+++ game. They abused everyone else and topped it off when a 33 point win in the Orange Bowl.

Georgia's 2012 team beats the 2002 team by multiple touchdowns. As good as the 2002 team was, the SEC was not nearly as good then as it is now. The second best team in the league that year was a 10-3 Alabama team who was on probation.

Alabama's best team was the 2011 team. They beat every team they played and beat them badly.

2010 Auburn was great but they didn't have the defense that some of these other teams had. Georgia was atrocious that season and they moved the ball up and down the field at will against them.

The three best teams in my opinion were 2001 Florida, 2008 Florida and 2011 Alabama, and not necessarily in that order.

I always thought that 02 team was the best, but good point regarding the SEC competition at that time as well.

Yeah…and what a tough game it was. They gave you problems for two quarters before you pulled away from them. When people see the final score of that game (42-10), they usually won't give you any sympathy.

You're kidding right ???????
And while we were "pulling away" from Georgia in the SECCG - our ninth game vs a bowl team in 2011,

you things were sitting at home farting on your couches while your lying SOS coach lobbied for a do-over - even though Okla State and LSU had two things that Bama DIDN'T HAVE:

1. One of the toughest schedules in the country
2. A conference title.

LSU, even though ALREADY HAD one of the nation's toughest schedules, had to play UGA in the SECCG.

And Bama had their usual high school schedule.

I thought SOS MATTERED in the BCS calculations?
Guess I was wrong.

Even if it was PERCEIVED that bama had a better team than OSU, how did they KNOW that ????

Didn't OSU's MUCH HARDER schedule and CONFERENCE TITLE mean ANYTHING ??????????????????????

And what about LSU's SEC title ?????

Why even """"""""""P L A Y""""""""""""" an SEC Championship Game if all you have to do is get some monumentally biased voters to vote the 2nd ranked Big 12 Champions FIFTH or SIXTH !!!!!

Why even PLAY a conference title game ?????
It evidently doesn't mean """ S H I T "" !!

Fornicate those Toothless Skoal Juice Chin Things.

What is the LSU fan obsession with the 2006 team?

LSU's 2006 team?
If so...
Simple
We had 2 losses

(1) At Florida.
a. Most all of Florida's 23 points were gift-wrapped - a muffed lost KOR by LSU, a muffed lost PR by LSU, and another fumble, all deep in LSU territory.
b. LSU fumbled on the Florida 1.

That's a 21 point swing.

(2) At Auburn. Early Doucet and Brandon Lafell are each hit 10 years before the ball got there by Auburn defenders - one in the Auburn end zone.....
No call.
There were at least 6 other blown calls. Worst officiated game in the history of sport.

Other than that, we won 11 games, including a 41-14 blowout of Notre Dame in Sugar Bowl, and finished THIRD in the nation.......

Replace LSU 2007 with LSU 2011, and replace Georgia 2007 with Auburn 2004, and it looks decent.

Let's be honest here. You know that 2006 game was BS.

NO ONE wanted to play LSU at the end of that season. They were hands down the best team in the country at that time.

The argument about the 2011 Ala/LSU Championship game being played really boils down to this:

You believe only Conference Champs should play (thus LSU/Ok State) or You believe the 2 best teams in the country should play (thus LSU/ALA again).

The question of whether Ala should be in it because of schedule can be debated but when you look at the results of who they played compared to LSU's (common opponents), they are practically the same.

Do I believe Alabama was better than LSU? Think they (both teams) were very equal considering all facets of the game. The problem in the championship game was our Offensive line stunk against their Defensive line....plain and simple. Their QB also played out his A$$ while ours was weak with a line that didn't protect.

It's a shame only one team will be called a national championship team because those where in my opinion two of the finest teams I have ever seen.

Not to me it wasn't. 2005 was BS. That 06 game was awesome. Most people view that game as an all time great slug fest. Sometimes calls dont go your way happens every year.

YOU said that, I didn't. Florida won fair and square.
Florida took advantages of the two muffed kicks.
Florida did not hit the LSU player on either muff - the KOR or the PR. Just bad luck for LSU and advantagous special teams by Florida.

Florida, however, DID hit the LSU RB on the Florida one yard line that prevented and LSU TD.

All I'm saying is that's a game I wish LSU's special teams could have back, because those 2 muffs in essence helped set up 14 Florida points.

Not saying we would have WON without the muffs, but it would have played out a lot differently.

My apologies if that was kind of harsh, but thank you for the clarification

Sure there is. LSU beat Bama on their home field and went 13-0 playing one of the best schedules in recent memory all while winning the SEC.

Bama played a pussy schedule, lost the only game that should have counted, yet got a free pass on a loss.

So now Bama only gets credit for playing Florida in years they finish the season highly ranked? The
Penn State game was scheduled years ago. Exactly how was Bama supposed to know a college football power would suck so bad by the time they played 8 years later?
