Venables has coached in 8 national championships as a DC.
Kirby has coached in 6 national championships Two as Head coach and four as DC.
Kiffin only 1 time as OC
That's it I think correct me if I'm wrong Three coaches have OC/DC Head Coaching experience in the SEC.

Are you guys ever right about anything?
Kirby was DC at Bama for the 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2015.
Kirby was HC at UGA in 2017, 2021, 2022.
4 as DC, 3 as HC

I don’t think Venables will win enough to coach OU long term but I think OU will definitely find the right coach again and be consistent contenders

I think OU will be lucky to win a single game in the sec.

OU isn’t losing to lsu or auburn. Probably not to Texas either. Alabama is a total unknown easily a loss or a win.

I think that the fans of OU and UTa do not understand the rigors of the SEC. Every team in the SEC (except Vanderbilt) expects to win and will play like it. The ice/hot tubs will be the Sooners and Longhorns best friend (as they are for all other SEC teams)
They have not played in environments week after week after week like in the SEC. Auburn, as someone mentioned is a house of horrors, Florida with the 99.5 % humility, LSU at night with the drunken fans, Miss State cowbells, Georgia hedges (which makes the field seem smaller), and on and on. Every place will be sold out and expecting blood.
Since the 1910's SEC schools (or they will be SEC schools) have won multiple NCs every decade, (I think the only decade the SEC won 1 NC was the 1980's)
Football is taken seriously in the South, there really is no off week
Do I think OU and UTa will flounder, no. They are stepping up in weight class though.

They are stepping up in weight class though.
But when your weight (recruiting) is on par or better than most of the SEC, then whatever rigor SEC athletes can handle then OU/TX can handle.
Did Auburn not expect to win vs New Mexico State? Arkansas vs North Texas. aTm vs App State? Etc. etc....

How has OU faired against the top half of the sec in the last 5-6. I think that tells you how well they will do this year.

True teams lose some games they do not expect to lose. However the SEC is tough. I could say the only reason those teams lost is they had been beaten up during SEC games and lost some key players. But honestly I do not know.
However the weight class OU and UTa finds themselves is the conference that has 5 teams that have won NC in the last 20 years, most multiple times. OU and Texas has never beaten an SEC team in a title game or in a playoff game.
It will be different. OU is used to maybe 3 games that are very tough, and other games where the opponent just expects to lose. That will not happen in the SEC (well Vanderbilt maybe)
Tenn, @AU and Texas will be a tough threesome, and you end the year with Alabama and LSU
The tale of the tape for OU will be Ole Miss though
Edit to add, While a lot of teams have good recruiting classes, remember that Texas had top recruiting classes for years and struggled. It is more than just recruits. That being said, the South is the top recruiting spot for football.
