Johnny football was the reason for texags great 1st year in SEC after that they went 9 years or so NEVER having another winning record in conference play. Mizzou did great 2nd and 3rd year in. After that not so much till LAST year.

mizzou fell off because pinkel got cancer and retired. then we made some bad hires after that. i think the only way oklahoma and texas really struggle is if they do face one or two seasons of adversity, panic, fire their coach, and then botch the next hire or two. texas also seems to have a lot of rich alums that like to throw their weight around that could contribute to that

And yet in our last 4 games vs SEC teams go 2-2 beating Georgia, Alabama in Tuscaloosa, lose to Bama in Austin by 1, and give the BEST TEAM EVAR the most competitive game they played all season long.

The discrepancy isn’t/wasn’t between Texas/OU and the majority of the SEC, it was between the remainder of the B12 and the SEC.

There was however usually a difference in roster between OU/Texas and the elite SEC schools which is not the case anymore since Sark got there.

Bama played K State in the Cotton Bowl who had just played for the B12 championship a few years ago and I doubt there were 4 players from K State who could break the 2 deep for Bama and not a single one had an offer from Bama out of HS.

Texas under Sark can play with anyone, the rest of that league not so much.

They are a G5 in all but name at this point.

Kansas, Iowa State,

Both of the schools beat UTrans so regularly that they wanted to schedule them annually as their homecoming game

Both of those schools suck compared to APP STATE and WAKE

You’re entitled to an opinion, despite how wrong it may be

Is this why Texas has a winning record against 12 of the 15 current SEC schools and OU 8 of 13? OU has never played MSU or USC.

Removing Texas and Oklahoma from the picture
If you don't remove them, you will see that OU and UT have better talent than most of the SEC. So forget the grind, ready for the SEC bull crap And by being in the SEC, OUr recruiting will only get BETTER. The watered down XII was a hindrance to top recruiting.

Secondly, less talent does not mean they can't be coached to win games. Auburn lost to New Mexico State, aTm lost to App State, Arkansas to North Texas, Alabama lost to Michigan, etc etc.

UT 3-year recruiting average? 7th. OU? 9th. Source: Josh Pate.

Oh yes, the all-time record defense

But you are 2-8 vs Vandy

Your result would be somewhat different if you looked at starters.

Prove it.

You could have both teams with quality starters but team 2 has way less depth on the roster

Starters get hurt, that’s why you need Depth. And teams with greater depth can replace starters with more quality players. You’re acting as depth has nothing to do with who plays in a team during a season.

You are talking situations.

What I am saying is the teams starters are not as untalented as posters are making them out to be.

Those less talented teams but with stout starters will play their starters more than deeper teams.

Deeper teams will rotate players more often in games but starter to starter those lesser “overall” teams are using their starters longer.

So when you try to compare talent using the whole roster as if the whole roster plays the game it’s misleading. Some lesser teams have great starting rosters and then the talent drops off. But if those starters can play most of the game there is less difference.

I can't wait till the season gets underway so this stupid beating of the horse goes away.

You're 1-3 in your last 4 games against the SEC. Bitch.

One thing I think that will at least partially counter the increase in schedule strength is that OU and TX won’t be the game that all others circle on their schedule.

Also, we won’t be facing the corrupt officiating we have faced since announcing the move.

I don’t know how the year will go but it will be fun.

Congrats on only having a winning record against 11 of the current SEC teams.

Oof ... 10-21-3 vs Tennessee. No wonder you hate them

Texas must have won like 20 straight national championships then.

It boils down to the Southeast has WAY more talent than Texas and Southwest where the BIG 12 recruit the most.
If we're talking big boy trench players, you may be right. Texas and Cali produce skill players that are prized by every program.
