No doubt he'll always be a Gator first and foremost -- coaching is only part of it; his player days are what really makes him a Gator.

What if his tenure at USC is longer than his tenure at Florida? What if he wins the MNC at USC?

I say he'll still be a Gator #1, yet if he wins the MNC at Carolina, he will not only be the greatest coach of all time, he will also have to be remembered as a Cock [no pun intended]. After all, everyone associates Bear Bryant and Nick Saban with Alabama -- it's not like they started there.

Oh, Gator coach, absolutely.

The Florida Gators were Spurrier's obsession.

The South Carolina Gamecocks are his hobby.

Not that Gamecocks give a shite as long as they get what they want out of him.

Spastic frick who walks the sidelines tweaking and sniffing his fingers and biting his nails the whole time. But with the right tools not a better offensive coach out there...

Unless you're under 18 years old or a Gamecocks fan, everybody should remember the guy as a Gator. How can a CFB fan not think of the epic battles with Florida State and Tennessee in the '90s and the way that he ran the score up on everybody in the SEC when remembering Spurrier?

Shouldn't we wait until he is done to think about this? If he retired today it would obviously be Gator 1st. But if we claim a couple more division titles, 10-win seasons, maybe even an SEC title and a BCS bowl here under Spurrier I think first and foremost he'll be remembered as one of the greatest SEC coaches of all-time.

Kinda like how everyone over 18 or not a Bama fan remembers Saban for his incredible LSU teams.

Saban has a much better record at Bama than he did at LSU while Spurrier's tenure at South Carolina has eaten away at his career winning percentage which has fallen from 78% to 72%. He's like Frank McGuire. When college basketball fans think of the man, they'll remember him as the man who built North Carolina's program and was replaced by Dean Smith. Nobody remembers him from his South Carolina days. Ultimately, Spurrier's years at South Carolina will be regarded as nothing more than a footnote. It's just so minor compared to what he did at Florida.

Ummm considering he set the foundation at UF, and won numerous championships there, I'll say UF coach all day. SC is still nationally irrelevant with him as coach.

Yep, the ever affable WG. It's our fault for letting them win last year.

You were surely better than us by four points. No way around that.

I agree with the majority that its for the Gators mainly because he played there and won a national title.

However, given our history, the job he's doing at South Carolina may be more impressive. He will never get the respect and appreciation he deserves for the job he's doing here.
