I mean, is he wrong? That’s typically what the Doak Walker award is for, after all…

He wasn’t even the best rb in the big 12 if you compare stats vs ranked teams. He disappeared vs any decent defense

Some coaches need to stay assistants. I'm sure Saban would hire him back as OC in a minute.

Firing coaches after 3 years is not a winning formula. But yeah I don't have faith Sark is going to get us there.

Herman got a raw deal. Was he really that difficult to get along with?
He went out of his way to screw up recruiting.
He consistently built big leads, shut down the offense, and lost games he should have won.
He was not as smart as he thought he was.
He was immature and did not represent Texas well.
"The Eyes of Texas" fiasco, when Sam Ehlinger was the only player that stayed on the field after the OU game.
Mocking Missouri's QB Drew Lock in the bowl game.
Flipping off the LHN TV camera's on signing day.
Lost RB Noah Cain on signing day over a phone call.
Was successful in getting 5* Quinn Ewers to decommit and sign w/ OSU.
Was successful in chasing legacy 5* OT Tommy Brockermeyer to Alabama. Both his dad and his brother played at Texas.
Recruiting is everything, and he pushed recruits away that wanted to come to Texas. As bad as that was, what he did recruit ended up in a fractured locker room. (Re: The Eyes of Texas fiasco.)

quote:Mack Brown decided he wanted a power, run first offense. The problem was he had recruited a hurry-up, no huddle offense.
The Texas downfall started in the Rose Bowl when they stepped on the field with Alabama. They have not been the same since.
Ironically, Nick made a decision to migrate towards the hurry up, wide open offense.
Since then, 4 Texas High School Quarterbacks have won the Heisman Trophy, only 1 of which was recruited by Texas.
Mack folded with a winning hand. Too bad he decided to retire in place.

Speaking to the game last night the last few series. Tx has a culture problem and many players gave up and were walking back to LOS with heads down instead of running to save clock time. That is a true picture of that program. I bet there are lesser known players on bench who would have given more effort but their NIL/Booster accounts are at $0. That late effort was a stain in their program yet has been ongoing for years. Until they hire a HC who they allow to run the program without internal interference they will continue to flounder. Mack at least would tell them to FO but since then no coach will. When buying players the buyer wants his player to play, and this hogties the HC.

Went to high school with their dad. Dude bleeds burnt orange. Tommy is now at TCU, where Blake can watch him play home games.

quote:Not to mention there were multiple games that he won that Texas was beyond lucky to come out of with a win (despite the fact that they were double-digit favorites or had a double-digit second half lead in many of those games)

Herman was not ever going to get it done for Texas. Time will tell if Sarkisian's career is worse (so far, it's unquestionably is), but there was still no reason to keep Herman if we knew he had reached his ceiling, which he most definitely had in both recruiting and results on the field.
