He wasn't officially the starter until over halfway through the season. He was a backup. In fact, officially, he was the backup to the backup, based on official roster released in game 1. By the time he officially took the reigns with JTD apparently not coming back and leap-frogging the supposed QB2, the Heisman race was already half-done. There was no reason for anyone to have considered him for Heisman due to circumstances.

Lol bryce young won the heisman behind the worst bama oline since 2007 so using him is a terrible argument to make your point. He carried the offense until the defense gelled. Bennett is a solid college qb but he wouldnt be able to carry a team.

He’s not a Vince Young, Johnny Manziel, Kyler Murray, Dak Prescott, Joe Burrow, Bryce Young, Cam Newton, Robert Griffin, Lamar Jackson, Tim Tebow, etc.

Just because UGA is a balanced offense and doesn’t throw it 40 times a game; doesn’t mean he wasn’t good.
What’s missed in all the greatest Defense of all time talk; is last years offense was the second most prolific offense in UGA’s history and highest scoring in Kirby’s tenure. Even considering the #1 offense was usually out of the game by the 4th quarter.

He’s not going to have a chance to get credit bc he won’t have the opportunity to carry a team. Georgia is prob going to have a top, maybe the top OLine in the country. He’s going to have a top supporting cast of RB, TE, and WR around him. And even with the departures UGA will have a great defense because they recruit and coach defensive talent better than anybody.
