NC winning QBs

2021- Stetson Bennett ??????, CG MVP
2020- Mac Jones, first round pick, D. Smith, WR CG MVP
2019- Burrow, overall no. 1, CG MVP
2018- Lawrence, overall no. 1, CG MVP
2017- Tua, first round pick, CG MVP; Hurts, second round pick.
2016- Watson, first round pick CG MVP
2015- Coker, UDFA, OJ Howard, TE MVP
2014- Jones, 4th round pick, Elliott, RB MVP
2013- Winston, overall no. 1, CG MVP
2011, 2012- McCarron, 5th round pick, McCarron 2011 CG MVP, Lacy RB 2012 CG MVP
2010- Newton, overall no. 1, Dyer RB Offensive MVP

Some trivia:

-Every QB on this list that won a CG and was a CG MVP was also at the Heisman ceremony at some point in their college career.

- Every QB on this list that won a CG and was named CG MVP and returned the next season finished top 5 in Heisman voting the next year except Winston (6th) and McCarron (not in the top ten in 2012, but second in 2013)

All this to say, as a UGA fan, I find it highly unlikely Bennett sees NY on Heisman night, and even tougher to see him being drafted.

Coker and McCarron are the obvious comparisons here as both were seen as game managers. Bennet is more athletic than either, but nowhere near the run threat O. State's Jones was.

But both Coker and McCarron had NFL size, and from a production standpoint, Bennett is closer to AJ than Jacob in terms of efficiency.

I expect Bennett will have a statistically better season this year because

1. Most of his receivers who contributed most heavily to his production are back.

2. He'll be the starter all year long barring injury.

One of the PFF guys believes he'll be in NY if UGA goes undefeated in the regular season. That's really crazy to think that could happen.

If Stetson is lucky he’ll be a career backup in the NFL . I think there’s a chance he never sniffs the NFL

Coker and GMAC are better comparisons. AJ in a kiffin plus Bama offense would've been a record setter.

He's been a near 10 yr active roster spot holder in the NFL in spite of injuries.

He is a good QB. Too much of NFL success among elite and equal talent is timing and opportunities

Go hold a clip board for a few years, make $$$ then go into coaching or broadcasting. Dude will be set in GA no matter what he does.

Just college accoplishments.

Coker was never the main reason from an offensive standpoint you won the important games.

Bennet made plays in both playoff games that made the difference.

Not talking about NFL or his ability to hang around there. I don't think he has a shot.

Bennett really did make some throws in the Final that I didn’t think he was capable of.

But yalls defense was once-in-a-decade. Last time two defenses like that existed we ended up with Jordan Jefferson vs. AJ McCarron

You know who was an under 6 foot Heisman QB that fell to the 5th round? And he didn’t make it in the league? His name was Troy Smith, an Ohio State QB, I saw him play that last season

The only short QB’s that seemed to break the mold was Kyler, but Kyler is an incredible athlete, I think he was drafted 4th in the MLB draft that last year too? And I’m talking under 6 feet, it’s tough to get drafted

You'll get your chance. Warning, he still made a good deal of plays against Lanning's defense in practice...and it was a good bit better than what folks think yours is. ;-)

It looks like Bryce Young will be the next one, he’s shorter than Bennett

Not entirely accurate. He did develop and was a better qb by year's end. Needed him down the stretch too. However, it was Derrick Henry who Bama really relied on to move the chains. DH and the running game had to carry the Bama offense until Coker developed chemistry with receivers, especially with O.J. Howard, who turned out to be the difference in the nattie game.

Because he has abilities that overcome his height. He has an arm and legs to make up for height.

Everybody take a look at this frickin' headcase. The Yeldon screen pass made him the man he is today.

Go ahead guy, tell them.

I can NOT blame you for living in the pre-CFP era. Life with the CFP has been simply brutal for Tide fans.

Question: Which one hurt the most?

Wow - soOo many choices!
