Nick Fitzgerald already holds the SEC rushing record as a QB. Will Rogers will break the SEC passing record. State is the new QBU.

Come a long way from Madkin, Fant, Conner, Lee, et al. Mullen was a master at taking an athlete and making him a QB, and now Leach’s offense attracts QB talent.

Give me Fant in an air raid and Omar Conner in mullens offense and I’d bet they are great QB’s.

I’ve followed Leach since the year BJ Symons was their QB. Have seen about everyone of his QB’s play since then, minus what he did at Washington a few years.

I’m a fan of Leach. But one interesting thing about Leach’s lack of QB’s in the NFL has a lot to do that his QB get tagged as “system QB”. Art Brile’s QB’s too.

As an older guy now, I always wondered that that meant. What is a “system QB”?

It’s odd too considering Leachs offense is very similar to most NFL offenses

A an that can perform in a particular college system, but not in a standard nfl offense.

The reality is that if you don’t have the arm to complete a deep out in tight coverage, you’re going to be labeled as a system qb if you did well in college

There is a really good read about all of Leach’s QB in an article that came out the year you guys hired him. If I find it, I’ll post.

It talked about how even though his offense has been successful, he’s never had the caliber of QB’s he’d had at State. Meaning I think if I recall correctly, State’s QB’s were ranked way higher than any of his former QB’s. Interesting to keep watching.
