I don’t mean to be a dick, but State would do well going to the Big 12. Obviously no one is moving an inch with tv contracts.

As a decades long MSU supporter, I have always wished there were separate levels but as you correctly stated the $ prevents that from ever happening.
I would love to see schools like MSU, West Va, Iowas St, Kansas State etc, compete for championships because the likelihood of that ever happening in today’s set up will be an impossible miracle.
The one positive to the way it is now, I don’t stress about it like the big schools’ fans do. With the roster turnover, it certainly isn’t the same as when you could watch your school recruit and sign players then see them every year at fan day. The landscape of it all has made me less interested.

I remember when Barry Switzer said Arkansas should have joined the Big 12.

Being the second worst SEC team since 2012, he was right.

Changing conferences is typically the death knell for a school unless it's done right.

1) You need to be peaking when you join the new league so that recruits from the new league's geographical footprint see you are ready to compete even as the FNG

2) You need to bring some form of rivalry to the table with you because if you join in isolation you will wither and die on the vine

Texas aced that with flying colors because hawg & ag were already here and we brought the dirty filthy methlords with us and we are finally starting to fire on most cylinders (men's basketball notwithstanding)

Ark probably should have joined the B12 back in 1996 when the league formed because you'd have your blood feuds back + the OU game would have likely become a blood feud but hindsight is 20/20.

My guess is Texas & OU being here with bolster your SEC profile if you can get a competent AD who can play his cards right.

Well ya'll are a decade a piece behind us in every sport but football and you can't even make ATL in that, so yea Ole Miss is still little brother melt or not..

You can use whatever historical justification you'd like but the Ole Miss and MSU ADs are on two completely different operating levels at the moment. It's hard to believe they're in the same league.

Arkansas should have rough it a little more longer and they would be in the Big 12 with the rivalries still intact.

Now Arkansas is just a warm body collecting a check from the SEC.

The addition of Texas and Oklahoma will only further push Arkansas down the pecking order.

State would have a punchers chance in the Big 12.

Frank Broyles brought Arkansas to the SEC for security and we have it. No one team leaving the conference will destroy it like the threat of texas leaving and taking aggie with them would have hurt that conference.

We knew it would be much more difficult, especially in football, but it was worth it.

Selmon will turn it around ..... Lebby was a bad hire imo he should of never taken that job. He needs 10 years and help from all other sec schools to be elite.

MSU was in a tough spot when The Pirate passed away and I can understand why they made their decision. If it worked out then that’s great but if it didn’t they had time to look for a suitable coach. Plus they didn’t have to break the bank to hire the assistant.

MSU has proven they can win with the right coaches.
