Even my bama friends don't like Eli Gold.
To each their own, but I like him.

I think it likely has more to do with nostalgia than his play by play prowess or entertainment value.

He has been doing UA football broadcasts since I was 9. Tuning into Eli on Saturdays when Bama wasn't on TV and/or when we were in a dove field on opening weekends was a tradition. Now, Bama is always on and, with Direct TV on the go and the like, there isn't much need for radio. But, I still like him when I have the opportunity and reason to listen on the radio.

If you watch earlier in the play, the DB hooks the shite out of Giles, completely stopping his route, well before the ball was thrown. It was uncatchable only because of the penalty. You could argue it should have been called defensive holding instead of PI, but it's still a penalty and an automatic first down.

"Going for the ball" does not give you permission to hold the receivers hand down not allowing him to attempt to go for the ball had he not grabbed jeffersons arm I bet JJ makes that catch - which is pretty much the definition of PI.

I can't tell if you're trolling or retarded.

yes, it was uncatchable because the Auburn DB grabbed the receiver, stopping his route. Should have been holding and not PI, but it's a first down all the same.

lol, going for the ball doesn't mean all bets are off. He is holding the LSU receiver's arm. That is textbook PI

My favorite part is amid all the whining about officiating, they foreshadowed "what you can't do on a field goal anymore". Three Auburn guys climbed up the shoulder pads and launched themselves for the block. I kind of wish they would have blocked it and got flagged to make the melt even saltier hahaha.

Do you just choose to be blind? That 2nd pic is obviously a PI . Only Auburn fans will think that due to extreme red arse.

It was a shitty call. LSU fans are blowing up the picture so that they can see his hand barely touching the receiver. It was a ticky tack call. Stan was right. The refs need to let the guys play ball. Call it a melt, call it whatever.

Nice melt.

Most balls are unmatchable when the receiver is held.

The only thing that’s clear is the LSU receiver’s arm is being held, preventing him from catching the ball.

Aubies are hilarious. Show them a pic of obvious PI, or of Fairley spearing Murray in the back, and they still deny it. Unreal.

The first one, the receiver was first held and then interfered with.

The second was blatant interference.

You can't possibly believe what you are saying, or this is straight up some crazy level of denial.
