Zero chance our administration does that, but I miss when they played "From Dixie with Love" after every game. They replaced it with our Alma Mater, and no one gives AF when they play it.

Maybe, but I'd rather have 2000 fewer seats than 2000 empty seats on game day. Oxford just doesn't have enough people to fill a 65k seat stadium. These renovations are also supposed to keep in more crowd noise, so I'm good with it.

Not sure exactly when the renovations are set to begin, but the Athletics Department has said there will be a "disruption" during the 2024 season, and they hope to be finished by either fall 2025 or fall 2026.

I'm just not sure that it makes any sense to maintain the high-capacity, uncomfortable seating situation when there are more alternatives than ever to live events.
No traffic, better seats, no bathroom lines, no random idiots (other than the ones you invite over)...it's just a tough sell, especially when tickets, parking and food/drinks keep getting more and more $$$.

That’s another example of a school improving their atmosphere

If Tennessee is being competitive again the place would be packed. I think we are forgetting that most of our attendance issues have been caused by a God awful product on the field

Hard to argue that point, but you can't underestimate how much the market for live events is shifting, particularly when the venue is incredibly outdated.

Oh I know how nothing remains pure forever. It’d be nice if they’d add more standing areas for the average redceck like me who’s there to support Tennessee no matter how good or bad they are

That north end zone video board section is going to be a standing area, iirc.

That’s interesting hopefully it will result in a big crowds up there. It’s that lower west side club that irritates me the most though

90-95k is probably fine. 100k+ stadiums rarely ever have a real full house. Even during the early 2000s it was only like that during the Florida games or a big name OOC team.

last i heard, state was going to do something with the south endzone. Not sure if this is still the look they are going for.

Does it bother you that it will probably never sound as loud as it did back in the day? How long have you been going to games? And that’s not necessarily true I remember a game in 2003 against South Carolina that was obscenely loud. Football was better then

Yep we’ve reduced seating by about 10k since joining the SEC. Used to be north of 71,000 in capacity and now we’re around 62,000. I’m ok with it as 1) we weren’t selling out 71k on a regular basis anyways and 2) TV and attendance trends are showing less and less need for huge capacities

We're about to add a few more suites to our south endzone area. Nothing major. Most of the renovations in the area are happening just outside the stadium:
Aggie Park:
Indoor Practice and Football Academic Buildings:
We're also about to start a major renovation to Reed Area (bball) and additions to Olsen Field (baseball)

My covid trip to Neyland didn't give me the full Neyland flavor, but structurally, it reminded me of the Cotton Bowl, and I'm just not sure that a venue like that would allow you to be competitive over the long haul.

Neyland is loud because it’s built up and not out, not because it has. 100k capacity. You aren’t going to notice the difference when it’s a full house at 92-95k.

If capacity was that big of a factor then the Big House would actually be loud. Meanwhile Kroger field gets louder.
