I also remember all the Georgia fans saying that Kirby was being stubborn and couldn't win a championship with Bennett.

OK maybe not all of them, but a very large portion. I would say the majority.

I sincerely do not. Was this said before a specific game or something?

to be fair that wasn't an outrageous opinion to have based on the data and informaiton available to us in real time. in fact Todd Monken basically told stetson to quit and that he'd never amount to anything at uga.

We remind the stet-haters this regularly on our board. Some were so broken that even after the first ring, they were pissed he decided to come back for his final year of eligibility. Bizzare. And he won it again.

Ironically a line will likely beat him. A line of genetic code or a line of coke

I am a UGA fan and from my perspective it was almost universally agreed upon that UGA would not be a contender with Benett as the starting QB. Collectively we were generally of the opinion that Smart had botched the Fromm/Fields situation. You have to keep in mind that 2017 was LONG time from 1981....our judgement was clouded with memories of Ray Goff and Jim Donnan. 2017 was a complete surprise if we are being honest. It ended in what was known as the most Georgia thing ever....just one more in a long line of what could have been. We are fans, we ain't smart or logical when it comes to UGA just like every other fanbase...we are fanatics. Not exactly logical. Its part of the fun.

I will admit it. I was on the "anyone but Bennett" band wagon. I remember making the statement "start the Stetson for Heisman campaign" sarcastically in the stands during the 2021 UAB game when Bennett hit Jermaine Burton for a 73 yard TD. The crowd around me started chanting "Stetson for the Heisman" anytime Bennett did anything....we were having a big old time. It was UAB. The game wasn't ever in question but the prevailing sentiment was apparent....most of us doubted Bennet. Most of us accepted that we might be wrong by about the Missouri game but we reverted and right fast during the SEC Championship game. Not long after the Michigan game only the most committed Bennett haters were won over and have been since, me included. I was wrong. I am man enough to admit it. Bennett was more than capable of winning a natty.

The days of Georgia with cupcake schedules and good timing are over. Smart pansy self has to actually coach now.

First, what schedule ranking would you consider a cupcake schedule?

Name the years Georgia had a cupcake schedule.

Not all the fans...but yes. We did have some that said that.

Not the majority. Probably 25-30% if I had to guess.

It was said for a short time. Mainly off season troll jobs. But you know how fans are. (Myself included) We latch on to the stuff people say and wait for a chance to throw it back at them.

Stetson signed a 4.5 million contract. Assuming he even lasts the whole contract (and hasn't had to forfeit some of it for last year), he probably walks away with half that after taxes and agent. Even with whatever he made while at uga, you think Stetson isn't stupid enough to have already pissed away the bulk of it? Those bad habits of his can be pretty expensive. You think a second contract is in even 50/50?

There are guys who made 10x that much that went broke really quick and they didn't even have the substance abuse issues your boy has.

I wouldn't brag too much about stetson's bank account since nobody would be surprised if was working at a car dealership in the next 5 years

I do definitely remember this. It was surreal how some of our own fans wanted him to leave.

And even that probably didn't shut up a few of them.
