I appreciated what he did here, but I'm not too upset that his presence no longer looms over the program

Spurrier is back where he belongs.

And it is still amusing to me how bitter USC fans are about him. He brought their program to unprecedented heights for them in the modern era and they can't help but be mad at him. It's weird.

Someone please post the gif of HBC doing those quasi push-ups on the exercise ball.

Here's to you, you magnificent bastard!

Try again.

Spurrier accepted the same type of "ambassador" position with us in January....HE was the one "selling the fantasy" that he was staying in Cola.

He stayed long enough to have the new IPF named after himself and Jerri and then quit again.

He is not the person I initially believed him to be when he was in Cola...he is, however, the egomaniac that I initially believed him to be when he was the HC at UF.

Like someone else said, I do appreciate what he did for us but I am glad he is gone. What I don't appreciate is the condition he left our roster in. I mean...a noted and Heisman winning qb and a National Championship winning HBC left us with a walk-on qb as our best option. What a way to be remembered.

Well, I dunno about him being queer...but if any single fan base could identify someone who is queer, it would be aTm. So there may be something to your claim, GS.

You know I <3 you, Grad.

Not me. Not bitter one bit. Everything happened exactly how expected to. Spurrier never really did much actual recruiting at any job. I saw the fall coming a mile away after his questionable defensive hires and after you could see him getting a little too friendly and buddy-buddy with everyone. They guy lost his edge as I knew he eventually would. All good things come to an end and no matter how anyone imagined it would be. it would turn out much like this 10/10 times with Spurrier.

Face it, Bill Belichek couldn't win in the SEC at USCe, no history, small fan base and recruiting footprint. Just remember before you bash the HBC too much that he is USCe's winningest coach. Even a great coach can't make chicken salad from chicken shite every year.

You will have a whole new appreciation of Spurrier after a couple years of Muschamp.

Not really sure why you find it weird. Yes, he raised them up to new heights previously unseen by their program, but he still left it in a really shitty way.

I mean, I view it similarly to maaaaaaaaaany Gator fans being bitter (still years later) about Urban Meyer leaving us and the fashion in which he did so.

We felt scorned. Gamecock fans feel scorned. I can't really say I blame them, no matter how much I appreciate what Spurrier did for UF.

As thankful as I am for him putting us on the map of the CFB world, he did screw us late. Big time. When you recruit FCS level talent, you expect these results. muschamp experiment may not be a good one, I'm still not sold on it, but whoever is the coach by 2018/19 will have one hell of a roster to work with by then.

I wasn't happy with the way he left UF nor the fact that he coached another school in our division. But, and it's a big old but, the positives Spurrier had on our program far far far outweigh the negatives and I am glad he is spending his semi-retirement with UF.

I think SC will look fondly on the years Spurrier was the coach there eventually, if they don't now. And why in the frick are our two fanbases arguing so much?

Not directed specifically at you chawk.
