There is no amateur system through school for Europeans so they join club and pro teams at a young age for development.

High schoolers can go straight to G League should they choose here in America as well. That argument is dumb

And “college” stopped being “amateur” years ago

My point being is that most these European pros are 18-20 year olds who have played “professionally” since they were in high school. It is different than a college player leaving school to play pro, signing NBA contracts, playing three years pro, and then returning to college in the middle of a season. The Euro pro comparison to justify this is weak and a completely different issue.

Saying this opens the door for NBA guys to return to schools is a nonstarter.

the dude pushed us into a 9 game conference schedule.

So we just ignore the fact that most on this board bitched for a 9 game schedule and gave Saban, and a few other coaches, credit for pushing for it?

Sports Illustrated laying into Sankey

Meanwhile, Miami tampered with Darian Mensah, who was under contract at Duke, and nobody in sports media is criticizing Mario Cristobal or ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips.

Besides that whole "better games for the fans to watch than a pay-to-win farce over East Directional Tech".

So he recused after entering the TRO and extending the TRO for him to be eligible? How shady

They will likely have to bring in another judge from out of county if no one else takes it

cool, does that help our teams get into the playoffs? I think the fans would enjoy that more, no?

The CFP committee has shown they don't really care about SOS, just W/L record. So what's the incentive to play a more difficult schedule if the goal is to make the CFP and play for championships? The networks didn't give us a better TV deal to play more conference teams, and they didn't add more playoff spots. So basically we just agreed to make it a tougher road to maximize the number of playoff teams the SEC gets each year without even a financial incentive to do so.

Disagree . Regular season should be meaningful competitive games. It shouldn't be about making the easiest path

I'm sure the New England Patriots fans are pissed they had an easier path to the Super Bowl and didn't have more meaningful competitive games this year

But at least Sankey was able to preserve all of the traditional games for SEC matchups we've played for decades upon decades while expanding the SEC schedule to 9 games. Wait, never mind, he messed that up as well.

The Universities voted for more SEC games under the presumption we'd have leverage to get more money from the networks and that the playoffs would be expanding to 16 teams. Neither happened. That vote wouldn't have passed just to create more better games for the fans.

What opened the door is not the players you mention.

What opened the door is the NCAA also granting eligibility to some 23 year olds who've been playing for bigger pro teams and making more than G League player.

Also, granting eligibility to some players that forgo a 1st round draft and 2 way deal to play for a big Euro pro team.

To consider "most" players misses the point since the point is how the exceptions the NCAA has been making in unique individual cases don't have a consistent logic.

Like I said above, the best outcome of this is to realize that college sports are now lucrative due to NIL and simply make the bylaws super simple:

Like: kids have 4 seasons to play in college between the ages of 18-24, period.

Get rid of micro managing and making inconsistent decisions on case by case basis.

What shame? It’s NIL. Pay for play except now it’s legal. What are they doing that’s wrong?

You are way off here if you're talking about the Baylor
kid.
