I was honestly convinced when Bielema was hired that they were among the best. It has to be seen as a disappointment.

What has bielema done that shows he has been such a disappointment. He has slowly improved our win total every year. I'm not saying he is even a top coach in the SEC, just don't see what he has done that has been a disappointment to this point.

He's 7-17 in SEC. He still loses games he shouldn't. He's hasn't recruited as well as I would have thought.

Bielema has never recruited well, I don't see why you would think that would change. He has also won games he had no business winning. Did you think he was going to come in and win the SEC. He was left a terrible roster that was almost the complete opposite of his offense philosophy.

I think the best way to rank coaching Staffs is to ask who would we trade our coach straight up for.

In football, the only coach in the SEC we'd trade Bielema for is Saban.

In baseball, I don't know that there's anyone currently coaching in the SEC we'd trade van Horn for.

In basketball, Many fans would trade Anderson straight up for Calipari, but not all of us, since he leads all coaches in Final 4's vacated and would probably get our basketball program the death penalty. Otherwise, the SEC basketball coaching landscape is bad. We'll fire Anderson next season for not making the tournament and hire someone better.

So, overall I'd say we're not happy with Anderson and think we can do a lot better. Van Horn we're happy with, I mean seriously folks :) Bielema, he's on an upward trajectory and if he can maintain, it will work out fine. I think we're expecting 6 to 8 regular season wins this next year, potentially more if the defense gets sorted out and our QB play is solid... and all of our running backs don't end up hurt.

He's also recruiting significantly better than he ever did at Wisconsin.

I fail to see how some folks can't understand this. Bielema most definitely hasn't been a failure up to this point. Now this is the year that will tell the tale though because he can't afford to go backwards after improving every other year.

I have to think he was just trolling after he brought up recruiting. Bert has always been known for doing more with less.

Possibly so. Capstone used to live in NWA and didn't like it and now tends to project that towards the Hogs.

I expected it to be a lot better than it was at Wisconsin. He's not recruited as well in Texas as I would have thought.

When is the last person that pulled great recruiting classes into Arkansas?

Maybe that's the question I should have been asking. Is it simply the move from the SWC that severed those ties? Why can't Arkansas have similar success recruiting Texas like OU has?

Probably because we're less likely to pay players, cheat and let in rapists and those prone to domestic violence..

Beleima? I think he's done a pretty good job, actually. He took a complete loss of an Arkansas team and has slowly but steadily built a contender. Do I think they will win the West any time soon? no, but only because they can't recruit like LSU, Alabama, A&M etc. For what they have, Beleima does a great job.

I think this is a great assessment if everyone is being fair. Looking at what he had to work with since he got here.

Does anyone recruit with Bama the last 5 years? No!

Arkansas has added great players to the mix since CBB arrived. This closed the gap amongst most of the SEC. Coaching has helped as well on coaching our kids up. CBB is great for Arkansas!

You're goofy. Bielema is a excellent coach and his building a strong program with depth we've generally lacked. DVH is one of the better coaches in college baseball and if you argue that, you immediately lose credibility in my eyes. MA has been underwhelming.

one actually. The thread about ranking coaches reminded me of this claim after Bielema was hired.

I saw plenty of your ilk making similar claims when Avery was hired

DVH is just having some really bad pitching mojo this year. he has always had good pitching.

CBB has already been discussed.

idk who we will hire after we fire mike (well I hope; my fear is he will win just enough for him to keep his job and us repeat the process of terrible recruiting and having huge holes in our roster)
