So 2009 and 2011 are void for bama. Good to know
1957, AU was on probation with a bowl ban. Couldn't even go to a bowl. 2009 and 2011, Bama was on probation, but was allowed to compete in the bowl games; which meant we won the BCS bowl.

I really don't understand the need either, since Bama has the richest and most successful history of any program.
Which is why nobody else should give a frick how many we claim. Our number of National Championships >>>>> Your number of National Championships. That's all anyone needs to know.

You would think that having 9 somewhat legit titles would be enough for Bama, but for some really deep insecure reason Bama fans feel the need to claim 14.
Hard for some folks to understand, but there is a contingent of Alabama fans that are very insecure. Lots of reasons for it, but it is interesting.

But...................No one takes your total of NC's seriously.
By making the BS claims that you do on non-existant NC's, it takes away from the "real" ones that you have actually earned.
Your history is an excellent one. Why tarnish it with BS claims on NC's won? It makes no sense at all.

Bama has 9 legit titles (although the 73 title is complete BS too. The AP changed the way they did things, because of Bama in 64 and the UPI was 10 years behind, which is totally inexcusable.)
Looks like the rest of the college football world has a hard time keeping up with Bama.
Bama plays and wins the NC in 1964 according to the rules, and because the rest of the teams are pissed, they changed the AP rules after that year. (It was funny that after they changed the rules for 1965, Bama won that AP NC for '65 too, because they waited until after the bowl games.)
Then the UPI changed the rules after the 1973 season; but Bama still won several UPI NC's in later years.
Now the BCS is changing because other conferences can't keep up with the SEC, including Bama. We're still playing by the rules and will continue to do so and win.

1941 is the only one that anyone should really have a problem with.

I don't see how they are more or less insecure than those from other fanbases who start threads/write lengthy blogs about our NC's. Seems like two sides of the same coin.
One sides gonna go as conservative as possible, the other as liberal as possible. Even though I'm on the liberal side even I can't justify '41.

Meanwhile the other fanbase in the state feels the need to write lengthy blog posts trying to "debunk" our title claims.
Yeah. We're insecure.

This. Now do a count on how many threads have been started by Bama folks touting their NC's and compare that to how many other fans have made trying to delegitimize and you'll see where the real insecurities are.

so....yall are still arguing it...and now you're arguing about who is or isn't insecure. Makes sense.
