Geno needs the UConn men’s job.

What more does that guy have to prove?

Why would he want it?

Speaking of which, imagine being the poor coach who follows Geno when he calls it quits

Is women's basketball that awful when it comes to elite talent? Seems like there is only a handful and UCONN gets those players.

Yes. Every year there are about 10-12 truly elite players. 5 go to UConn and the other 5-7 scatter.

Over the course of years, UConn has just built a dynasty where they have 5 star McDonalds All Americans that see mop up duty. Since there is no Tennessee type program to offset it, it has created a problem. Then the fact that ESPN has so many UConn grads working there, and they are in their back yard, and you have the only media that promotes women's basketball pimping the shite out of the program.

In short, the combination of Pat Summit leaving Tennessee and ESPN recruiting for UConn has caused this. When you add in that Geno is actually a pretty damn good coach, and most women's basketball coaches aren't, and its not even fair.

State, Texas A&M and South Carolina all have an elite level coach, and have pretty good talent around one elite player. Tennessee has several elite players and an average coach. But, an all-SEC team would be an underdog to UConn.

At this point how much coaching is the guy actually doing? He has basically 7/10 of the best players in the country every year.

Yes they get the best talent, but people don't give enough credit to how good of a coach Geno Auriemma is. The best talent doesn't guarantee 90 and 111 game win streaks. There is another constant through all of those wins, and it's him.

This can't be stated enough. The guy has done enough in the game that he was inducted into the HOF 12 freaking years ago. He has gotten to the Saban level of execution and expectation. If UConn went 2 years in a row without a championship he'd prob off himself. The guy has 5* Transfers that ride the pine. it is unreal.

Heard on the radio that he actually joked about this, saying if he’s home without a title for a 2nd year in a row he’d probably have to move.

Geno gets the talent he wants. Arkansas has the number one ranked HS prospect in the country and she didn't even glance at the U of A after getting an offer from UCONN. Without Summit leading the Lady Vols to balance the scales Geno can safely dominate the sport for years to come if he wants too.

The best player in Tennessee 2 years ago lived 160 miles from Knoxville didn't give UT a sniff and went to UConn....That most likely doesn't happen if Summitt had still been at UT.

Yup. The last 4/5 years Staley and SC have been as close as possible to a rival for UConn, and Carolina literally cannot play with them.

State may get another shot at them (I think they meet in the title game, right?) to see if they can take that rival mantle. Pulling for State the rest of the way, for sure.

I will admit Geno is a good coach but really having ESPN and the refs in your pocket is overkill. Last year I think Thing #1 nor Thing #2 worked the State vs Uconn game. Will be interesting to see if that happens again.

State has a shot if neither of them are working
State is "proper f*ck*d" if either or both of them work the game
