Good. Cops should not be immune to criminal charges when they commit a crime and we should hold them to a higher standard as representatives of the state. Hopefully the cop will get some mental health help and suffer a severe financial hit as a message to others in the profession. Why sooooooo many anti government types always support the single government agency that has direct impact on their life when that agencies representatives act like thugs is not a mystery…. They dream of an authoritarian government keeping others in line.

Fify.
We don't have to hold them to a higher standard, we just have to enforce the standards we have.

Filing the complaint creates the potential for a public record. I think just shaming that cop is the goal here.
That’s fine, but he still deserves to be fired.

What's interesting is the cop has never been identified. Filing the complaint creates the potential for a public record.
One of my first thoughts as well. Won't TX dps have to provide that on discovery?

Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental health condition in which people have an unreasonably high sense of their own importance. They need and seek too much attention and want people to admire them. People with this disorder may lack the ability to understand or care about the feelings of others. But behind this mask of extreme confidence, they are not sure of their self-worth and are easily upset by the slightest criticism.

Based on anger management issues, I think we've found the Dps trooper....

I suppose there is a name for everything. In earlier times, we’d simply say he thinks too highly of himself and is on a power trip.

I don't even care that we lost that game, but damnit, I wish we had won it just to spite that trooper.

No you haven’t.
By definition it was actually both assault and battery.
- Assault is an intentional act that creates a reasonable apprehension of imminent harmful or offensive contact in the victim.
- No physical touching is required—threatening someone with a raised fist or pointing a gun (even if unloaded, if the victim doesn't know) can qualify.
- The victim must be aware of the threat and reasonably fear it.
- This distinguishes it from battery, which requires actual physical contact (harmful or offensive touching without consent).

Based on the video, that's going to be the bar they have to clear.

He did a stupid thing, but it doesn’t rise to the level of assault.
Try bumping into a cop the same way and see what you get charged with.

Yes he has. We all have.
A guy in DC caught an assault charge for hitting an ICE agent with a thrown sandwich.
The trooper almost certainly won’t and shouldn’t get convicted, but the bar for bringing a misdemeanor charge like this is very low.
Link in case you just got the Internet last week and missed the news
