Can’t read the article because it’s behind a paywall, but I would assume that he’s filed a complaint for a Class C misdemeanor, the punishment for which is the same as a speeding ticket. Probably a precursor to a civil suit.

The standard for a simple assault is incredibly low (an offensive touching), so it’s not inconceivable that the charge could stick, but I would assume that the officer will ask for a jury, and I wouldn’t expect that to go well for the “victim.”

I used to prosecute these in municipal court. If someone swore out a complaint that ticked the boxes, we would present the case, but there were more than a few where I was perfectly fine with the judge finding for the defendant.

It won't go anywhere. I don't blame him from trying from a soap box standpoint, but in the real world this will amount to nothing but a headache.

The dude was publicly embarrassed, and that's as far as it'll go. Especially as law enforcement.

Good for him.
I typically have the mindset of being very calm respectful when/if dealing with officers of the law

But that trooper was out of line.

And sadly the adult behaved with the iq of a kid.

Keeping SC in the news using A&M is kind of cool tbh, we’ve never had this kind of clout

The trooper is not an Aggie. He works for the state of Texas.

Idiot.

The trooper should be fired, it’s so sad and trashy to act like that. He won’t be of course. If he’s doing this shite to athletes in the open at an event that’s supposed to be fun entertainment, what is he doing when cameras aren’t there?

Edit: and don’t give me any crap about him responding to a threat from running up the tunnel. This was a sad loser getting a whack in on a college player..

Who would have thought a Texas state trooper would have Longhorns and Aggies holding hands in unity

Does he react the same way if South Carolina is losing at the moment this happens?

Why not file suit?

We shouldn’t want State Troopers running around with power trips like that.

This is a SC lawyer trying to get a settlement payday from the State of Texas.

This is stupid but not surprising at all.

Perhaps that Barn player can sue Uga for trying to bite him, though Statute of Limitations has likely run out.

Sue dead Woody Hayes as well.

Sue the Stanford Band for being on the field.
