Went through each FBS vs FBS game and assigned pts based on
- Home/Away
- Pt Margin (capped at +/- 30 per game)
- Postgame Expected Win %
- Opponent F+ Ranking
- subtract points for a loss

Collegefootballdata is a pretty awesome site. You can get almost anything in excel from there. Anyway, kind of interesting. Can't account for some things like head to head, so there are probably a few teams clumped together that would get manually swapped due to things like that.

4 Northern teams hosting 3 SEC teams + a team from Arizona would certainly fit the criteria for all the people wanting to see Sun Belt teams play up north when it's freezing.

SMU at 4 in the SOG analytics? Nope, don’t like that. Don’t send this to the committee.

If they lose to Clemson they'd drop bigly.

Well, how bigly? Like, say, below #11 bigly?

The numbers change weekly but a 10 pt loss where it isn't a fluke (post-game win prob % under 15%) just added in would drop them to right around where Miami is per the current nerd lytics.

With the loss penalty it's pretty hard for a team to be in front of a different team that has 2 less losses than they do. Probably a bit of a flaw, but didn't have time to dive into standard deviations and the like to fix it

Atrocious OOC schedule and the bottom half of the Big 10 really sucked.

Are Penn State fans not embarrassed?

They can’t think they’re always ranked properly, right?

Have you ever talked with a PSU fan? They have no shame about their lack of understanding of how football, and the world at large, works. I still remember the time i had to argue with a forum full of them for weeks leading up to the 06-07 title game because they thought Florida didnt deserve to be there

I kinda laugh at that because sure the players aren't used to cold but after a certain point cold is cold so I don't think it will matter like people think or to that degree.

You have the Fiesta and Peach bowls mis-assigned. #4 goes to Fiesta, #3 to Peach.

But I agree with SMU #3, Boise #4 should those teams win their CG’s.

Pretty sure it's like it was previously where top seeds get to pick or at least make requests.

Nope. It’s based on historic bowl tie-ins, and geographic proximity. So they’re assigned, host schools aren’t choosing.

In this case Boise has ties to Fiesta, as does their round 1 match-up opponent.

SMU as an ACC school (now) has ties to the Peach Bowl.

Also this matches the relative geographic proximity of these 2 host schools.

now if you move your eyes just to the right a bit and compare the next two teams.....kinda throws that metric to shite.

that's a big change from the 4 team model.
