They're ranking the team this year not the last 4 years. Deal with it.
no your going to deal with it and its not going to be good LOL.. the team with losing as many players looks like its breakable but if you look closer OU has many of the top 100 players on its team. Recruiting hasnt dipped OU is still the team to beat and until somoene does it your all fighting for 2nd. OU got every player it wanted in the portal also. Patty is the ultimate dynasty.

top 4-5 sec teams have realistic chances to make world series imo
oklahoma state always find a way to make it. ACC might have a team like Duke who can get in. Big 10 UCLA and maybe Wash.

OU is a machine in softball. Patty Gasso has more nattys than Saban. Somebody's going to have to win 2 out of 3 vs OU in OKC. That's just not going to happen.

Is Sam Landry the main pitcher? She's good but doesn't seem as strong as Kelly Maxwell and some of the other OU pitchers from previous seasons.

As if OU doesn’t have enough advantages, the Women’s World Series is held in their state.

Hey we had to play you for the Natty in New Orleans in front of 90% your fans in football so I don't want to hear it.

Sigh. Going into the season ranked #13 and we will be lucky to hold onto a top 8 spot in the SEC.

If the tournament selects on strength of schedule rather than a gaudy record someone is going to get an SEC squad in their regional with a fairly meh record who will absolutely wreck shop.

Florida with one of its youngest teams in years pushed OU to the brink in the WCWS.

Wouldn’t surprise me at all if it comes down to Texas, Florida, and OU again.

Don't sleep on Tennessee with Pickens. They won the SEC last season. I also think LSU is flying under the radar.

Texas should be #1 in my opinion. They lost 3 position players and no pitchers, and they were #1 most of 2024. OU lost 6 position players and their best 2 pitchers. Florida lost 1 position player and no pitchers. Albeit that 1 position player was a huge loss. Texas also beat the stuffin' out of Florida in their only game they played.

Freshmen can't always replace the outgoing seniors, as they sometimes take a little time to develop and adjust to the superior talent of college from high school. Not taking anything away from the amazing accomplishments Oklahoma has achieved. They are the standard bearer and everyone is chasing them. For Florida, we wouldn't be where we are without Oklahoma, as Gasso was a big influence on Walton even considering to coach softball.

OU fans obsession with softball is weird but then again it’s all they have

With that said nobody is number 1 other than them until someone knocks them off.

Agree. You can rank them wherever you want, right now they are the team everyone wants to beat, even though this will be an almost entirely different team from last season.

Pre season polls are mostly worthless and no polls should be done until you play some actual games.

But if you do one, you have to put OU 1. Based on all the factors I mentioned.

Last year we were supposed to lose the throne because one of the best pitchers in some time (Jordy Bahl) transferred to Nebby. We were weak on pitchers they said.

The press wants us to lose. All non OU fans want us to lose. Until it happens OU is a 4 pete champion. And has the best coach who earned her chops for a few decades before it all came to fruition.

I even doubted them last year. And have more this year. But until they get dethroned I have to see it all play out and someone beat them for the title.

One side note to all the whiners around the country whining about location of finals. Whorns football had a similar “advantage” playing in Jerry World. And how did that that out? They lost. No matter where a game is played you have to win it on the field.

#15 in the country leaves you in the bottom half of the conference. Good grief, the SEC is loaded.
