Thanks for telling me to deal with it, even though I cleared that up in the OP. Work on that itchy trigger finger

You have bragging rights. You got to go to Atlanta, and had things gone more like before, you would not have had to sweat it out like we did. It didn't go Auburn's way but at least Auburn was still in control of their destiny. You would have known already you were in had you won. Sounds like a couple of shite posters to me, so f' em.We all have dumb asses in our fan bases. I assure you most Bama fans don't think the IB is just an exhibition game. I can also tell you this weekend was not fun for Bama fans until this morning. I sweated out a Fresno State and Boise State game on a fricking blue field, hoping Bama would not lose a ranked win. Fresno lost and I was sure tOSU would get in over Bama because of a game between two average teams in frigging Idaho. I listened to fsu on the radio as they picked up a 6th win, because the committee looks at wins over bowl eligible team. I watched all of this knowing my team could do nothing but watch helplessly same as me. Auburn got the chance to play their way win, so hell yes, the Iron Bowl still means something.

The Iron Bowl vs a #1 UA gave a 2 loss Auburn the chance to control it's own destiny. Had Bama won the IB, I think they were a lock for CFPs barring a UGA blowout win. As it stood, UA needed some help, but not TOO much help, from tOSU.

I wouldn't call it an exhibition, but the CFP does provide more breathing room to account for at least 1 close loss.

I dunno, I reread my OP, and I'm not sure where you reached that conclusion

Seems theSEC championship is an exhibition. The conference champ had to play an extra game and has to travel to play in the Rose Bowl. Meanwhile Alabama rests up and is rewarded for not playing in a conference championship by playing a home game in their backyard.

The playoff committee should have ranked Alabama #3 and forced them to travel. Too bad UGa, you got hosed worse than OSU.

You guys had your chance to take the cheese and blew it. Don't be mad.

Overwrought, that's a good one, lol...

Congrats in advance if you win it all, but at the present moment, I still have a thing or two to hang my hat on, and you potentially don't...no one's overwrought here, I assure you. Just trying to flush out some real football fans, as opposed to the Johnny Come Latelys and/or people who submitted to the Men In Black mind erasing experiment sometime shortly before 2009....

Making the CFP for the fourth time makes it a good year for the Tide.
The "Bama Invitational" wouldn't be as fun for Bama fans if the Tide didn't host it.

Auburn played Saturday like they didn't want to offer another rematch to Alabama.

the Iron Bowl of course means a lot.....but it is the playoff era...you caught a beat up Bama coming into the iron Bowl....You guys were beat up and deflated in the SECCG. If AU would have handled business against LSU, you would be in.....

I will enjoy it. Not mad at all. Bought tix this evening to see Weird Al with my daughter, and her excitement trumps anything I might feel about a football game, but appreciate the concern!

I feel like some (OK, many ) of y'all are glossing over the point of my post. I already reached the acceptance phase. We lost straight-up yesterday. I'm not commenting about who's in and who isn't...however, If OSU played lights-out and blowtorched Wisky last night, I feel pretty certain that no one would be playing the "exhibition game" card right now....the flippancy is borderline humorous.

It’s not an exhibition game, it does matter. Sure, I would’ve liked for Bama to have won it. If Bama does manage to win the title this year though, what happened in the Iron Bowl will be a distant memory that I won’t care about.
