That's what some Bama fans are saying, at least on some of the Rant posts I've read. Look, you got in the playoffs, now go push some people's shite in while you're in there...but if you're telling me with a straight face that the IB is an exhibition match, you're either a snot-nosed teenager who hasn't lived long enough to grasp its history, and/or you need to turn in your CFB fan card immediately.
And FTR, I don't think Auburn deserves shite...as nice of a late run we had, we lost on the field fair and square, so don't take my post as a "we deserve to be there!"-type melt. Carry on....

Can be. Now that 4 teams are eligible to compete fir the national title. Absolutely.
The old poll system and bcs, u couldn't lose the iron bowl and be in position for the national title, see 2013, but, with 4 teams making the playoffs, it doesn't absolutely break u like it used to.

Yep. For two years in a row, the Iron Bowl - the singular purpose of an Auburn fan’s existence - has been 100% meaningless.

The iron Bowl obviously mattered because auburn played for an SEC title and Alabama did not win the SEC. If Auburn beat Georgia Saturday, they would have been playing Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl.
In addition, Alabama may finish the season with only two losses and not have anything to show for it.

No... it was a way for us to beat up your primary weapon so you would go into the championship thinking you had it won, only to have your dreams crushed. The Iron Bowl was very important for us. Thank you

Good news is AU had their playoff in the regular season. Played 3 of the 4 playoff teams in 4 games. Went 2-2. Not worthy of a banner but it was a fun year.
