What college were these professors in?

Unfortunately you don't know what you're talking about and any amount of closing your eyes won't make the problem go away.
I don't believe the school will close its doors next fall, but there is a SERIOUS problem with retaining quality faculty right now.

And they had a hard time attracting top faculty too, and that was with a chancellor/president that didn't have to resort to the dramatics. It's posturing, but this is something that has been ignored and ignored and Alexander is actually doing something about it (which is his job by the way)

No way you are this dumb...
Legislative budget doesn't pay for athletic department coaches salaries. Or anything athletic related for that matter.
Also there is ZERO chance a semester would be canceled even if they filed.

Science, Mass Comm and Humanities.
ETA: Another close friend of mine in Engineering has had his number of students per year double in the last 4 years. They added sections and numbers of students per section to his work load with no raise in pay. He's currently looking.

False. It has already changed the schedule for building new AD facilities. Optics are important for an AD.

There is no positive spin on a billion dollar deficit.
LSU has already suffered a credit downgrade. I do not think that will impact athletics --- so if you only care about football you are probably fine.
If you care about higher education in Louisiana, it is a sad time to see. I see choctaw attacking the "liberals" --- I am pretty sure Louisiana is not known as the great bastion of liberalism. Bottom line --- we need to get back to the buck stops here philosophy. IF you are the governor, keep the heat on the legislature to try and plug the holes --- do not go around trying to get into another office at a time of financial crisis.

It will affect the satellite campuses at Alexandria, Eunice, and Shreveport more. It will not affect LSU's Tier I status, it's Top 30 Research ranking, nor it's ForeverLSU Top 30 Quality Thrust.
If there are over 1% cuts to the 11% of the total LSU budget that comes from the State, it may affect some programs on the Baton Rouge campus, and some professors....

Do not disagree with anything you said. I merely stated this hurts higher ed in the state, not implying the main campus. The credit downgrade will make any new projects more expensive for LSU anywhere, however.

Yes, hopefully just temporarily.....

OK, if you're an LSU fan, and you ever made fun of UT's finances, better get started on that crow!

Completely different.
With Tenn mismanagement and incompetence IN THE AD made the department run into the red. With LSU mismanagement and incompetence IN THE STATE GOVERNMENT is making the university run in the red.
In the real world what is happening to LSU is much worse than what happened to Tenn, as it could really change the academic standing of the university for decades. But in the Rant world what happened to Tenn is more relevant because we talk sports on here. At the worst this will force LSU's AD to keep an eye on public displays of inefficiency (like letting Chavis walk without paying the buyout or buying new facilities) to avoid a PR problem. I don't see it going beyond that for Rant purposes (maybe negative recruiting).
Actually in the mid-00's A&M's AD hit rock bottom and had to borrow from the school to stay afloat so Aggies know the Tenn situation well. I don't think any SEC school has waded into the waters LSU is getting into though, it takes DECADES of legislative and constitutional incompetence to get to a situation like this.

Exactly. Spending great amounts of time out of state currying favors from others for his own interests. He's using his own state as his "model". "See, I know how to cut spending and waste." All at the expense of education and healthcare. But the far right loves it and that's his target audience and support.

The numbers in the engineering school are incredible. The number of faculty in ChE has gone down while student numbers continue to rise. The lack of funding is only going to make this worse.

"We're going ahead with our course offerings but we have scaled back hiring," LSU President F. King Alexander, also chancellor at the Baton Rouge campus, said.
The university had planned on hiring 125 new faculty members, a majority of which are replacements due to retirements and open vacancies, but Alexander said that figure will be scaled back by some 50 percent. Instead, LSU will look to hire 60 new faculty members.
yeah...all hell is breaking loose
like i said....scare tactics.
