I live in Vestavia AL. and our high school is the Vestavia Rebels and our mascot is Colonel Reb. After the latest debacle they voted on changing the name and mascot. We will still be called the Vestavia Rebels but were asked to change the appearance of Colonel Reb to make him look less offensive. How is Colonel Reb offensive to anyone?
I could almost understand being asked to change from the Rebels, but why change Colonel Reb?

I guess you could see it that way, but I still think that's a bit of a stretch. How is Colonel Reb any different than KFC,s Colonel Sanders. They look an awful lot alike and Colonel Sanders peddles fried chicken.

Funny thread simply for the fact that the OP has Rebels and Ole Miss in the thread title and doesn't realize a majority of people are much more offended by the name Ole Miss than the Rebels nickname.

Exactly! I think Colonel Sanders is be more offensive than Colonel Reb.
