Living in NWA is better than living in Gainesville in many ways.
Depends on what you like.
I've been to both. Have any of you?
I actually was planning on attending Arkansas at one point in time. I had sent in my seat deposit and everything. They offered a great scholarship. I ended up going elsewhere, but NWA is nice. In terms of outdoor recreation/mountain living though, I have to say the Ozarks are rather overrated.

Arkansas basketball was a random one hit wonder for a few years.....kind of like UNLV. It is not a power program and the prestige is non-existent in terms of being a "name" school. But you do have MS St beat.
ummm, this is just stupid. except the ms st being beat part.

The way I see it is a 46 year old man is retiring from a job because it is too stressful and is seriously hampering his family life. This same man WANTED to retire last year, but came back for one year. A 49 year old man who appears to be enjoying his life a great deal is a primary replacement candidate. It may be easier to recruit to UF with the in-state talent and the national prominence already there, but the JOB doesn't appear to be easier.
Petrino already makes enough money that a raise is more about cock measuring than actual money, so that isn't an issue. Petrino's history suggests he doesn't do the media life thing all that well and he would be more in the limelight at UF.
I'm not saying that he won't be announced as the UF coach today, I don't know and no one knows what is going on inside his head. I do know though that our coach went from being "the scum of the Earth" a few years ago to being a coach in demand at any major vacancy. In that same time frame, UF went from winning the national championship to 7-5.

oh gosh, the implication that some how petrino>myer is just another example of delusion. Are you stating Arkansas will be 10-2 or better as long as petrino's there? he won't have a down year after losing a guy like ryan m.?
myer has accomplished more in 6 years than petrino has in in his entire coaching career. i don't dispute petrino is a good coach. he is.
with that said, i have a lot of piggy friends and i've seen it on here, that spew this notion that he's the best or second best coach in the s.e.c. w/o winning the west. this is pure homerism. win the west, win the s.e.c., win the n.c., then claim something.
Posted on 12/9/10 at 9:00 am to dos crystal
I never claimed he was the best coach in the SEC or even the west. I was simply stating fact. Petrino is once again regarded as a good coach and Florida has had problems. If I intended to imply anything, it was that even the Gayturds can have bad seasons...so don't assume a coach would go there knowing a good year is 12-0 and a bad year is 10-2.

So from what I've gathered from Arkansas fans
Arkansas is a better job than UF
Arkansas is an easier school to win at than UF
Arkansas is an easier school to recruit at than UF
Arkansas can pay more money than UF
Is there anything that I'm missing?
So, you've talked to all Arkansas Fans? Apparently not. Here is what you can "gather" from me. Arkansas has a lot to offer a coach, including pay, and Petrino will still be at Arkansas after Florida hires their coach.
Did I miss anything?

yeah, you're missing your citing reference, because i'm pretty sure nobody said any of that except maybe the last one.
are you insulted that Arkansas fans would suggest that Petrino might prefer to stay at Arkansas over taking the job at UF? Is that what this thread is about?

This because some Florida Fans can't stand the fact that Arkansas is a very attractive coaching job. I like Florida but a lot of their fans seem to think all it takes is just for a coach to show up and SEC and National Championships roll in. I do believe that Zook had the same recruiting advantages as Meyer, didn't he? And, why the sudden decline for Florida this year? Florida has had "top" rated classes for the last several years, haven't they?
Florida is one of the top programs in the country but not all coaches aspire to coach there. Regardless of whom Florida hires that coach better win at least 2 SEC Championships and 1 National Championship in the next four years or the fans will run his arse off. Not all coaches want to be held to such unrealistic goals.
Is there anything that I'm missing?
