Welcome to Mike Shula era -

I mean I was obviously a fan during that era and there is nothing similar about it. I don't see us being forced to hire a former player in April out of desperation, while being a program under sanctions back when the NCAA still had balls. There is no NCAA slap down coming with bowl bans and all that other shite.

Sounds like the kind of shite you're telling yourself to cope.

Besides, starting the season #3 and only winning 3 games in 2000 after winning the SEC in 1999 was much more painful than the Shula years. By the time Shula arrived, I was just happy he wasn't embarrassing the program off the field and causing more NCAA problems. Except the book thing, but that was bullshite. Shula was the bandage that helped the program heal from the previous coaches.

The most painful part of the Shula era aside from Darby up the Middle was probably the Prothro injury. Still even with Shula Alabama managed to win 10 games and helped keep the program clean enough to attract Saban.

Really only Georgia fans can talk about that though.

It isn't like any other SEC coach has won a natty or the conference.

To me it's more about what people are content with.

I don't know what DeBoer is going to do over the next few years. But I can tell you right now if he goes 9-4, 10-3 and 9-4 in his first 3 years, ain't nobody gonna be talking about how he has the 2nd highest win% in the conference. If he's not fired he will be on an extremely hot seat.

No one is saying that. They are saying Brian Kelly is a fraud and LSU hired an aging Notre Dame head coach, for the second time, that won’t accomplish shite at LSU.

Well stated.

Kelly is one of, if not the most , unlikable coaches in CFB. Besides the videos of him grinding on HS kids , you never hear his players saying positive stuff about him either . I don’t want to pile on LSU fans too much bc I know this is killing them to see ND play for a NC with a young , first class coach .

I, for one, am glad the legions of fans claiming Sam Pittman was better than Marcus Freeman finally got what was coming to them!

Notre Dame is doing better than LSU
Because Freeman is better than Kelly.

But Freeman is better than all the other coaches in the SEC, too

Doesn't mean all the SEC coaches suck, because Freeman is better.

Phil Jackson was better than Pat Riley, doesn't mean Riley sucks

No doubt, the expectations for DeBoer should be much higher. He took over a much better situation.

He's the black saban. This place has claimed he's going to win it all.... go on a saban/bama type run.... he's out coached BK (apparently the only one he out coached which is interesting).... and the list goes on.

Saban average 12.5 wins and 1.8 loses - those numbers would be below that - not acceptable - but they won’t ever hire another Saban - LOL

Posters on this board can only make excuses for and deflect from the fact that BK actually wins more than their own head coach (other than Georgia), yet supposedly, he's also a bad coach.

It's weird how Kelly is held to a higher standard than their own coaches.

Isn't he the only current SEC HC, besides Smart and Deboer to play in a national championship game? And yet he's got the same number of nattys of each HC.... except Smart.

LSU plays a tougher schedule than Tennessee pretty much every season.

We have played UGA, Bama, and Florida every year for 30+ years.

All the while LSU whined every year..."but we have to play Florida".

There were two teams in the West forever, and you were one of them. Tough schedule my arse.
