I would bet that Lanning was 1st choice, Norvell 2nd choice. Lanning with Bama ties. Norvell extensive recruiting expertise in the South due to his Memphis and FSU background.

He made a mistake [heaven forbid] but his point has been mine.
You don't meet with Deboer the afternoon the news of Saban retirement leaked, then sign Deboer within two days while also getting turned down by several others.
Deboer was first and he was hired within 45 hours, not 45 days like the fiasco LSU went through with their coaching search. Not like the issues surrounding Auburn.
Bama once again, showing how to do it right.

Players are running from DeBoer, just like they did Harsin. Transfers are normal now with portal and NIL, but no one else is coming in. Just players from DeBoer's old team.
This isn't coming from a place of hope, we've seen it before, and we see it coming. Do you not think Alabama is going to turn on DeBoer at the first sign of failure? People were calling for Saban's job when he lost to Texas this year. In case you forgot, Saban is the best college football coach of all time and your fanbase wanted to fire him cause of a loss to a playoff team.

oh no, bama got everyone they wanted on the first try. Kept all the players they wanted and didnt lose anything at all. Wont miss a beat. Championship team next year no doubt

Did it matter that we didn't hire Saban on December 1st 2006?
Since when did how quickly you hired a coach have anything to do with how good the coach is?
