They had a reporter on that was at the press conference, and said he’s never seen Nick Saban like this. Said he wasn’t even mad or raised his voice.

He said he got the impression reality started to settle in late in the 4th and he finally realized they are just a really good program and not elite anymore.

I noticed that as well. Just sad and old and accepting. He looked tired.

Saban is the best coach of all time and I have massive respect for him, time has Caught him finally it seems

2 plays away from an undefeated season last year.

It wasn’t exactly a disastrous season

The NIL and transfer portal are what caught them. Gone are the days of the dynasties.

Bama 247 Team Recruiting Rankings
2023: #1
2022: #2
2021: #1

Exactly how is NIL or the transfer portal hurting Alabama from a talent standpoint?

You can argue there have been missed evals at certain positions, but the recruiting has been outstanding and far more talent has transferred in than has transferred out via the portal.

Saban decided that the modern player needed to be coddled and catered to - all it did was make his teams soft.

Current Bama football looks like a flag football team compared to those early teams like 08, 09, 11, 12 etc.

We all know unbeknownst to y'all. Those rankings are biased. Other teams are now able to compensate players. So y'all lose that advantage through the REC.

He’s been that way for a few years now. Saban is old. Take away the brown hair dye and he would look a lot older. The man that Alabama hired in his mid 50s is gone. He’s a figurehead at this point.

Strange how the schools with the best recruiting rankings end up with the most players in the NFL then.

Saban is deep down a controlling a-hole. He won’t be able to accept getting beat by multiple teams this year. He may pull a Spurrier and just quit midseason if they lose a couple of the next 5 games.

You guys make it sound like Saban is a declining shitty coach.

The transfer portal has been the problem for Nick Saban. Nobody wants to transfer from one team to Alabama.

If a player is not happy with playing time on their current team, they sure as hell not going to be happy transferring to Alabama.

Saban is one of the best coaches of all time. I'll always appreciate that he righted the ship at LSU. Age gets us all eventually if we live long enough. Hopefully he has enough tine left after he does step down to enjoy life.

All of those elite 5 star talents and yet get beat down by a suspect Texas squad.
