When Rece Davis asked Boo Corrigan why Oregon was ranked over Texas when their SOS is 40 points lower and there is almost a 50 point differential in the only opponent game, Boo made some seriously concerning answers.
1.Bo Nix completion %
2. Oregon State's average point total
3. Only loss to Washington
What he didn't mention
1. SOS
2. SOR
3. Ranked Wins
4. Common Opponent

This committee is a freaking joke!

It's always going to be subjective and arbitrary. It's a ranking.

They’re hell bent on getting a PAC team in before that conference dies.

... Why would this mater?

Oregon State's???

3. Only loss to Washington

Not to boost Texas for any reason, but their only loss is to Oklahoma, who's still in the top 15. It's not like they have a loss to an unranked team.

Are you even surprised any more that this doesn't matter?

They rewarded Clemson years ago when, prior to their championship game, there were G5 teams with a higher SOS and similar records.

Playing tough OOC opponents isn't worth it honestly. Everyone should just take the Michigan route.

The odds that it was actually expressed as OP describes are probably 0.

Correct Answer.

The conference has imploded, with only 2 of the main teams still there. The committee/ESPN are going to do whatever needs to be done to appease the conference and grow their audience out West... including this Mea Culpa.

I like what another poster stated. If Bama wins in Atlanta, and they are a dark horse, and the SEC is left out... Time to start a new league.

I would say the same thing, even if the teams were reversed.

The odds are actually 100%. Listen to his comments for yourself.

It's so dumb. Did they ever stop to think what Nix's completion percentage would be if they had played Bama's much tougher schedule? Or that their only loss was to an undefeated team with a similar cupcake schedule as their own? You can't ignore SOS and maintain credibility.

That is so true. It's almost like they want college football to be like the NFL with their playoff system that is based solely on wins and losses. There is no parity in college football like there is the NFL.
Schools in the SEC have a much more difficult time going undefeated than a school in the ACC or the Pac 12, that is a fact that no one who know anything about football can deny. Having a committee ignore that fact because they are not considering SOS completely negates their credibility as you say.

About what I’d expect from a 60 year old man who asks people to call him Boo.

Dude is by far the worst of the line of CFP heads/spokesmen we’ve had.

Boo Radley would do a better job ranking teams.

It's almost like we should somehow combine any subjective rankings with those from various non-biased computer systems, develop a complex weighted algorithm considering SOS and some relevant metrics associated with quality of wins, and then rank the results in descending order.

But what would we call it?

it’s a shame we don’t have multiple seasons to see how Bo Nix faired against SEC defenses. Wait a minute! I think we do!

Anyone who thinks Texas would not be undefeated in the Pac12 is insane.

I said this last year. A committee member justified TCU’s ranking last year by saying “ we like the way that they play as a team “. The committee is either crooked or just plain stupid. I lean towards saying they are both

Nah.

First point: "Oregon has continued to dominate"

Second point: holding Oregon State to 7 points

He then mentions Bo Nix but doesn't say it's why they're ahead. He concludes by saying they've impressed the committee on both offense and defense.
