Way too far south IMO.

Drivable for Florida, Georgia, Auburn, South Carolina and one of the cheapest flights from almost anywhere. And it's Orlando, so it has added "other" things to do on a trip. Finally, they have a shiny new NBA arena.

It's pretty good for a 1 time every 8 years location. It's certainly better than Tampa.

Generally pretty good. If Alabama/Auburn/LSU/Ole Miss/State are playing it's really good. The weekend crowds are almost always packed.

Last year.....

Day 1 : 2,930
Day 2 : 5,062 / 6,890
Day 3 : 7,279 / 9,823
Day 4 : 6,988 / 8,552
Day 5 (Semis) : 10,793
Day 6 (Finals) : 13,128

Alabama, Auburn and Ole Miss were all gone by Friday (or weren't there at all in Alabama's case).

LSU folks would not be big fans of moving the tournament to a stadium in a city. They bring those RVs like it is a football weekend. The parking lots at Hoover at built for them.

People would still come. Memphis would be a huge financial success for the conference. Memphis has a ton of alumni from Ole Miss, State, Arkansas, Tennessee and Alabama that already live there. It's only a few hours drive from Nashville and Birmingham. It's closer to Baton Rouge than is Birmingham. The only program with a big following that it isn't close to is South Carolina, but neither is Birmingham. Memphis has all the hotel accommodations one could ever need and a lot of things to do in between sessions/games. They settled on Birmingham simply because it has already been there and it hasn't been bad (people go). There are still plenty of ways they could make accommodations for RV fans.

Agree - I think Memphis is the logical SEC Baseball Tournament hub location. It's the center of most of the biggest fanbases (not all, but most) (LSU, Arky, OM, State),has a great stadium in a great location and has a fun little nightlife area.

The first few years that would be an incredibly tough ticket.

I remember the last time this topic came up most folks thought the stadium sucked and nobody would want to go there. It'd be a fine 4th, just make them build a stadium that is cool. Get it done.

I was mostly joking. Its capacity and proximity to New Orleans are its only real redeeming qualities. The stadium itself isn't a terrible place to watch a game. The pool area and the levee are a decent feature that would probably be a fun time in the tournament atmosphere.

Overall, I mostly wanted to take a jab at Metairie and use Baby Cakes in a post.

Don't have to get on a four lane road. Can be home in 15 minutes.

Move the SECN and home offices there.

Home of the drop-top stadiums.

New Orleans And Nashville should rotate ball. Atlanta keeps football and don't care about baseball but Texas makes sense for some reason although I'm not sure why
