How would you situate the following : SEC Football Championship Game, SEC Basketball Tournament and SEC Baseball Tournament?

(1) Would you have a permanent site? Set of 2-3 with a random rotating 3rd/4rd? Rotate every year?

(2) Depending on the answer to #1, what cities would you use?

SEC Football Championship
Always in Atlanta. Atlanta and the SECCG and synonymous with each other. Atlanta is the capital of the SEC and the capital of college football. Add in the new stadium and the fact that if the SEC left the ACC would swoop in and it's really no contest. The football game being in the same place also gives it an identity. Don't think it will ever move.

SEC Basketball Tournament
- Nashville every other year
- Atlanta/New Orleans/Houston/Orlando/St Louis rotate the other years

2018 - St Louis (Scotttrade Center)
2019 - Nashville (Bridgestone Arena)
2020 - Houston (Toyota Center)
2021 - Nashville (Bridgestone Arena)
2022 - Atlanta (Philips Arena)
2023 - Nashville (Bridgestone Arena)
2024 - New Orleans (Smoothie King Center)
2025 - Nashville (Bridgestone Arena)
2026 - Orlando (Amway Center)

SEC Baseball Tournament
Yearly rotation between.....
- Hoover, AL (Hoover Met, 10,800)
- Nashville, TN (First Tennessee Park, 10,000)
- Memphis, TN (AutoZone Park, 10,000)
- Frisco, TX (Dr Pepper Ballpark, 10,316)

There are other places that would be nice (Regions Park in Birmingham, Trustman Park in Metro Jackson, Pensacola, Biloxi, Jacksonville, etc) but they don't even seat 9,000 people. It doesn't sound like the SEC has any interest in moving to a stadium with less seating. Cool Ray Field in Gwinnett is big enough, I just don't think that's a very good place to have it.

Another option would be Louisville (seats 13,131).

Once it goes to these places, I don't think anyone but people in Bama will want it back in hoover.

I would leave the basketball tournament in Nashville every year. With the arena being right on Broadway you really can't beat it. It's a great atmosphere.

I may lose my gump card for this, but I don't think the baseball tournament should be in Hoover every year. There has to be a better option than a generic park surrounded by strip malls.

I would fine with that rotation. It also hits the regions pretty well : Nashville with USC/UT/UGA/UA/AU/UK, Memphis with Ark/OM/State/LSU and then Frisco with A&M/LSU/Ark. Florida gets screwed but outside of the spring training sites there isn't a very good location for them to be close.

The Shrine on Airline aka Zephyr Field aka Baby Cakes Park holds 10,000 and would allow people to visit Metairie, LA in the middle of spring. What a time to be alive.

Although, I am disappointed because I thought you supported my #NauvooMovement

I don't like the tournaments in any of the relative outposts, such as Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, SC, and Florida.

I'd rather the baseball tourney be in Memphis and earn an identity a la the SECCG, and the basketball can stay in Nashville (though I do think it odd to make SEC basketball synonymous with a hockey arena).

I understand the justification for rotating venues, but I think keeping them stationary helps build long-term brand awareness and creates the spectacle/event.

I remember the last time this topic came up most folks thought the stadium sucked and nobody would want to go there. It'd be a fine 4th, just make them build a stadium that is cool. Get it done.

Can we host all events at Carbon Hill HS?

They should build an SEC Sports complex there solely to host SEC Championships. Then, when we add Virginia Tech and West Virginia, we can just pick it up and move it to the new "geographic center" of the conference.

They should have stopped playing baseball games there and converted it to a soccer venue for the new Birmingham Hammers. But last I heard they are going to play downtown.

LSU folks would not be big fans of moving the tournament to a stadium in a city. They bring those RVs like it is a football weekend. The parking lots at Hoover at built for them.

True, but you don't keep a bad venue for RV parking.

I also think the capacity argument is kind of dumb. How often do they need all 10k+.

Get rid of that and you could add Regions in Birmingham & Constellation in Sugar Land to the mix too.

I have ZERO interest, as everybody else I know, in spending any time in Memphis.

I agree - but I think the SEC office has made it pretty clear they aren't going somewhere with a dropped capacity.

They've made a similar argument on why they only play the SEC Tournament at the Georgia Dome when in Atlanta instead of Philips Arena. I think it's pretty stupid. The ACC played their tournament at Philips a few years ago and it was awesome. Hopefully once they come back, after years at Nashville and other arenas, they'll play it in a basketball arena.
