Maybe, but they give you 6 servings worth of food and it’s like $8.99.
That reminds me of the guy who took his friend to his favorite lunch spot but the food was terrible. When the friend asked why he kept going there he said "because they serve such large portions".
I would nominate Judy's Place in Mobile, if you can get a table.

It's an old term used to describe what may also be commonly called cafeteria style lunch.
Jump up and show you age if you were at Tolly Ho in the old days when Papa Ho and his wife owned the place (that old, tiny, red brick place has been razed for concrete crap in its place.
"James Brown" danced for his meals
Big Tolly was a regular
Service was cafeteria style
If you worked hard, Papa ran a tab and you settled when you got paid

Northport Diner … Twix and Tween
Both are long closed. Northport Diner was renamed Blue Plate or something like that. Twix n Tween is now a Mexican restaurant.

The furthest north I've ever lived was Virginia. At least as far as the east coast. Boot camp in Kentucky maybe if you want to count that?
Go ahead, take another wack at it.

Not my state but the BBQ Kitchen in College Park, GA (near the airport) totally rocks.
Order the blue plate and you get unlimited seconds on veggies. Different veggies.
However many veggies you want to eat you can get seconds.
Price is reasonable and food is excellent.
If you are ever around ATL it is worth a stop.

Someone already said this, but for me, it’s Johnny’s in Homewood.
It’s been said he’s more of a Greek and three due to his heritage.
Several dishes have a Greek influence

I know you named dropped those two places to act like you know Atlanta, but you just showed that you don’t know Atlanta. Those areas couldn’t be more different demographically.
And Georgia's answer is Pick o’ Deli in Rome.
Magnolia Hall in Tucker is a pretty legit new school take on it also.

Gong with The City Cafe in ttown. The best used to be a place called Watts cafe on 431 just outside of Glencoe. What was referred to as the Watts special by my dad was a plate of meatloaf, turnip greens, pinto beans and mashed potatoes with all the cornbread you could eat. My god it was the most awesome food.

I don't know shite about ATL outside of that war zone called Hartsfield. I searched for the most gay friendly neighborhoods in town and that's what The Great Google gave me.
But I know I speak for everyone when I say "Thank You" for setting the record straight.

Have you been to Matthews Cafeteria in Tucker? Been a while since I’ve been but man that place was good.

Yes, it used to be great but it has honestly kind of gone downhill in recent years in my opinion.

That’s kind of what I heard. I think it was around 98 or so, I remember seeing Patrick Pass there with what I’m guessing were some family members. Man, he was putting some food away (as we all were).

Forgot to throw in Beans n greens in Ball Play Alabama. Hamburger steak with gravy, creamed corn, pinto beans and the best green beans I’ve ever tasted. Just some of the menu. Best is they make their cornbread in iron skillets that have pieces cut in triangles instead of muffins. The kind of cornbread all southerners are used to.

City Limits Cafe in Killen, AL is good. The best meat and three I’ve eaten in years.
I believe Tim Bowens family owns it

But did he call it a meat and three?
Yes. He'd say "let's grab a plate lunch at the meat and three" or "we ate lunch at "so and so"; it's not a bad little meat and three"
