He said it at a Razorback Club event. Its not like he said it to a reporter for ESPN.
Basically the same shite Kiffin did? Talking shite about Urban...rah-rah at a booster meeting & it got reported...

Before heading to Dickey-Stephens Park to make an appearance at the Diamond Hogs’ now annual game in Central Arkansas, Razorback Coach Bret Bielema stopped at the annual Saline County Razorback Club Fish Fry on Wednesday night where he spoke and met with fans.
quote:
The head Hog was asked if he thought he could beat Alabama to which he smiled and said “yes.” Coach Bielema followed with what was likely his best statement of the night. After praising what Alabama has accomplished recently, he went on to say that if you compare his record in the Big 10 Conference to that of the Alabama head coach, his [Bielema’s] was better.
Somehow, the fact that Bielema said all this at a fish fry seems highly appropriate.

I will give Bama their due, but the SEC is being talked about because of so much more. This is why Bielema is going to fail because he doesn't know shite.

Agree. That was probably the most moronic thing he said.

In response to a question at a Razorback Club meeting of whether or not he could beat Bama?
Yes, sound rant logic would rather him say in that situation say "frick no, they are going to beat our arse up and down the field every single year that I'm here."
I'm sure that would have gone over real well at a booster club metting.

That has nothing to do with what he was agreeing with.

He made more than one comment.

But to draw comparisons because you had success at Wisconsin is absurd.

Like I said in the OTHER thread about the EXACT same thing, CBMFB was talking to a crowd of Hog fans. What did you expect him to say?? "I can't wait to continue the annual arse kicking we receive from Bama"

Congrats, Biels. You just sic'ed the other 13 SEC schools on your team, and you also pissed off Bama. Both are bad ideas.
Like we give a shite.

Don't understand the point of this...it's still better than what he had at wisconsin. Petrino did just fine with 90% arkansas players.

I don't want a coach that doesn't think he can beat Saban's team and doesn't plan to.
Whether he gets it done remains to be seen, but if you don't believe you can then you don't need to be here.

Well, in Saban's defense, I would like to point out that the big ten was actually a pretty competent conference back when Saban was still in the conference. Paterno was still a decent coach, Barry Alvarez was in his prime, Hayden Fry was still putting together solid teams, Lloyd Carr and John Cooper were recruiting exceedingly talented teams, and even teams like Indiana had some pretty talented teams.
Of course Bielema wants to brag about his record in conference, but if we actually parse the numbers, he was pretty darn bad against the upper echelon teams. So right on Bert.

The team Saban took over at Mich. St. had not had a winning season in 5 yrs and the team Bielema took over had been to the Rose bowl the year before, so the talent level was not quite even at the two schools...
Something tells me Bielema may be on the other side of the coin this go around, lets see how he does, good luck to him & Ark...

Bielema is a clown. He is a joke as a football coach.....especially in the SEC.
