No, the winner of that game is #1

Truth. This is an absolute.

What happens to the team that loses is an open question. If Alabama loses, they are out. If Georgia loses, I think it's 50-50 if we stay in the top 4 or not.

Bottom line: The SECCG is a must win for both teams.

I mean, you act like Auburn fans don't pull for Alabama when they play Georgia, so it isn't unheard of.

Probably not, thanks to UGA not having much in the way of a signature win (though they would have the best loss).

In your scenario, playoff teams and their best wins by current ranking:

Alabama - #1 Georgia, #9 Ole Miss, #24 Arkansas
Ohio State - #5 Michigan, #12 Michigan State, #14 Wisconsin
Cincinnati - #6 Notre Dame
Oklahoma State - #10 Oklahoma, #8 Baylor
Notre Dame - #14 Wisconsin

Georgia - #23 Clemson, #24 Arkansas

It wouldn't surprise me, if those other teams win, if Georgia gets left out of the playoffs. I'm not saying it WILL happen, just that it wouldn't surprise me - especially if Clemson loses to South Carolina and/or the ACC CG (presuming Wake Forest gets upset by Boston College and Clemson gets in to the ACC CG).

Of course, if Clemson wins both games they'll likely shoot up those rankings, giving Georgia a win over a team with a high ranking at end-of-season.

You wish, dufus. Georgia has played 8 SEC teams and dominated all of them, including Arkansas who Bama barely beat. You wishing us away ain’t making it happen. Stop embarrassing yourself.

Unless there was some Armageddon scenarios where UGA lost by 30+ points to Alabama, there’s no plausible way they drop out of the top 4 here with a loss. None.

Alabama has some ways they could sneak in with 2 losses, but they would need some help with Cincinnati losing, and 2 loss teams emerging from the Big X and Big XII to where they remain in the conversation.

UGA isn't going to lose to an average team, even one named Bama.

If Georgia gets left out of the playoff in favor of Cincy, burn the whole thing down. The committee would never have any credibility left.

You Gumps are getting desperate.

I tend to agree with you. I mean, we don't ask "What would happen if Alabama gets beat by Auburn and then beats Georgia?"

It's just people wanting to troll and get other fans stirred up. Why argue about hypotheticals? I mean people will always pose hypotheticals and come up with dozens of others to prove another hypothetical.

It's a dumb game to play.

Considering the playoff ranking had not been released, they didn’t/couldn’t drop.

I said weeks ago the committee very well could drop UGA out if they lose to Alabama. There would be great pressure not to have 2 SEC teams unless they have no choice.

That loss would expose UGA 's schedule, with few quality wins, and give the committee cover.

I remember the media members saying no non conference champs back during the BCS days when Bama got in with the close loss to LSU, and they were clearly the 2 best teams.

Before the Leghumpers cry, I never said you deserved it, but I see it happening.
