Should State be ranked?

5-2 with losses to Georgia (best resume in the country) and Auburn ( top 15 team)
LSU is 5-2 and ranked. And there is that pesky head to head thing.
Personally, I think the SEC should look like this:
1. bama
2. Georgia
12-15 Auburn
15-18 MSU and LSU
19-20 A&M

They should be ranked ahead of LSU. If you have the same record as another team and you beat them by 30 points, you should be ranked ahead of them period.

Lsu became ranked by beating a ranked Florida team in the Swamp and beating an Auburn team that was 5-1 (3-0) and ranked #10. I’m not saying that State shouldn’t be ranked, and I’m sure you will be if you beat Tex6 A&M.
I don’t agree with where you think they should e ranked though.

As a UK fan, I'm going to say yes.

Here is my reasoning.
State was penalized because they had back to back road games against Georgia and Auburn. Let's say that you switched Kentucky and Auburn in the schedule with the same results.
After beating LSU, MSU was #17
After losing to Georgia, MSU dropped to #24
Instead of losing to Auburn here, they rattle off wins against BYU and Kentucky, and have their off week, then they lose to Auburn. They are probably somewhere in the 17-20 range.
The team that was ranked #22 when MSU was #24 won two games and jumped up to #13.

You aren’t going to get any credit for Kentucky anyway. Lsu got smoked by State then beat Syracuse who turns out to be a decent team. We lose to Troy ( I will never get over that) but follow that with a win in the Swamp vs a ranked team. After that we beat the #10 team that smoked State . I don’t think that you can simply rank a team ahead of a team that they beat just because of that one factor . If so then Syracuse should have bolted all the way up to #2 last week, and Lsu would have been ranked ahead of Auburn.
State will be ranked if they beat A&M no doubt about it.
I don’t know who you have left to boost you higher but just keep winning and it all works itself out

They looked like a high school team in those games, though.

Yes State should be ranked ahead of us

Then by that logic we should be ranked ahead of Auburn then . Doesn’t work that way

No
I am a State alum and fan. We are about 26-30 right now. The teams that we were supposed to beat, we have dominated.
Sadly though, we were not competitive with UGA and Aub and thus we are not ranked.
If we beat TXA&M (a big IF), then yes I think we should be 15-20 in the rankings.
We will see.

Right now I think Penn State deserves their #2 ranking and we belong at #3. But, yes, I can easily see your point and agree. Their problem is when they lost, they lost big. That hurt them badly. If they can get corrected, though, they can get back in the top 25.

They have just as good if not a better case than Michigan.

Just like States big losses hurt them you big loss to State and loss to Troy hurts you. Guice looked really good yesterday, though, and if he is healthy LSU could be really, really good the rest of the way. This could be a big "What if..." yea for LSU.

Probably, their losses while big margins, are at least to respectable opponents.
20-25 is fair

maybe, but they lost to a pretty good michigan State team in a close game. State lost badly to a good Georgia team and to a pretty good Auburn team. I would put Michigan State and Auburn on fairly equal footing.

No fricking way.

I think so.
I think sometimes teams do not get the proper rank because of anticipated losses against really strong teams.
They would beat several of the teams 12-20 pretty badly imo.

I personally don’t think that Lsu should be ranked ahead of Auburn even though we beat them. I was just using the Mississippi State posters logic of State being ranked ahead of Lsu

Well it was an LSU poster that said that, but...
