This is true. I don't see the Big XII last too many more years. It's just a matter of time before it folds.

They are in a pretty unique situation. It wouldn't work for most. And it definitely ain't making them the most popular girl at the dance.

Looking back at the situation now. The Ags will come away bettr than I first thought. IF somehow, the 20 mil actually materializes, they will get out of debt with their athletic dept. The rest of the Texas Ten will still be discontent, thus the breakdown of the conference will still happen in a few years. This will lead to a move to the Pac 10 still for several. The Ags, will be out of debt, probably get another offer from the SEC and won't have to pay a buyout to the conference, since it will fold and they'll be getting the benefits that the SEC has to offer.

The Ags had to borrow money from the general fund for their athletics before last season. Under the new "deal", Texas, Lil Tx Ags and Oklahoma will get $20 mil each out of the league.

The aggies money will only be there for the next couple years. Then it will be dependent on their next televsion deal.

I just don't see them signing a deal where the big 3 get their 20 million and the rest of the teams get around 14 million as they were told.

I see the other seven having to settle for 5-8 million a year. I just don't see this conference surviving another 5 years without a major overhaul. It is really resembling the demise of the SWC.

I give Arkansas and Nebraska credit because they were the two teams that really dick slapped Texas right in their face.

I think Colorado pulled the trigger too early.

They might not have gotten in had they waited.

No way. I like that everyone gets the same amount. The fact that Vandy has a better TV contract than ND is pretty sweet.

I think not having equal tv/bowl payouts is a terrible idea, especially with the variabilty in team strength. If the Big Ten had unequal sharing Michigan would get a huge payout but in the last two years would that be fair to Iowa and Wisconsin?

It's all cylical. A program goes on a multiple year downswing and they get dropped in revenue immensely, it's going to piss them off.

Alabama would still demand a lot, even if they sunk to the lows of 1997-2006 again. The fan following judges how much a program is going to be on television, and Alabama has a very large fanbase.

How? Money? They will make plenty of money not matter what. But if I was a Texas fan I would not be happy. No CCG, round robin schedule that includes ISU,Baylor,KSU etc. There is only one other legit football program in the conference. Best home game in any given year would be aTm, OKlahoma State etc. Not very exciting.

But hey they have there own network to watch all those miserable games.

Then you have the Vanderbilt and South Carolina's.

Hasn't had a "downstring" in years. As I have said many-a-time since we were 6-5 in '04 and since Spurrier has been here ('05) only 4 SEC teams haven't had a losing record. SC is one of them along with UF, UGA, and LSU. Sure we haven't had a breakout 10+ win season but we've done alright for ourselves.

What would be benefits to this?

The conference would split, and maybe another conference would win a National championship.
