Should Bama switch the LSU and Ole Miss Games?

Think about it. Bama always plays well the first game of the year, then the next couple of games or so are hot garbage. If we play LSU early, it may actually be a more competitive game. If Bama wins, we don't have the false bravado buildup on this board every year (4 years running!). If LSU wins, they can actually start to get excited about the season without the knowledge of an inevitable fall to Bama. They don't acknowledge it, but it's always in the back of their minds.
Then, we play Ole Miss later in the year. We have time to gel and become a more complete team. We can focus our energy on beating a team that has been much more difficult for us the past couple of years. Makes sense all around.

Then again, I don't guess it really matters, because only Bama beats Bama.

Moving it to game 1 is a genius plan if you're LSU. After losing, they still have something to play for...

Maybe we need to move our bye week

I like LSU in November, after the bye week. It's almost always a big game with major implications. I like our recent record in the game. Ole Miss caught us on a turnover heavy game this year...no need to change up the scheduling over it.

I know they can express preferences, but I was unaware that individual schools unilaterally called the shots on the timing of their league games.

Who cares about Ole Miss? When's the last time they finished in the top 10? 1961? I don't care if they beat Alabama in flukish ways every year. Ole Miss will find a way to drop two or three conference games and fall out of SEC division title contention. That's who they are. Ole Miss is not a serious threat.

I like it in November too, but it just starts to get really quiet in this place about that time. November is a great month for football, and I begin to miss all of the thoughtful, in-depth analysis by LSU fans.
Gems like "Bama will lose to whoever this week's opponent is because of some shite that happened last year"
And, who can forget the thought-provoking referee discussions we get to have on here?
