Completely irrelevant to gauge the capabilities of a defensive coordinator.

Ok, I am a high school defensive coach. No DC worth his salt wants to be a DC for a HUNH Offense.

Somebody tell me this guy isn't serious.

it was a career killer. They were fired.

Good thing they were good enough coaches to overcome the HUNH -no defense they were made to try and fix.

It's amazing how that's all you have to say without offering an explanation of why they're dumb. fricking dickhead.

If Gus runs such a good program why is he not able to hire a DC?
With the money he is offering it should be no problem, unless there is a problem.

What coach wants to walk into a situation where it's most likely a 1 year job. Now if he can get 1.5 or so mil, with 3-4 years guaranteed....well then that's ok.

Since it's not guaranteed, you're going to be coaching for a year, Malzahn gets fired, your reputation is trashed because the defense again is getting a lot of negative press, mostly cause they're on the field 5-10 minutes more on average. How good is that going to look on a resume when you're job hunting?

Now can the barn turn it around and do well next year? Sure, anything is possible. That schedule doesn't look too good though. If they get run out of the stadium week one, which is a real possibility, it could all come apart.

I'd short sell Malzahn stock.

That's what stupid people actually say when they disagree with someone, and they have no argument to come back with. Just like preteens call each other ugly, stupid, or dumb as comebacks. Stupid adults do the same and just call you ignorant or dumb and think everyone else will agree.

We've beat Auburn's arse 8 out of the last 10 tries.

That's what defines your program, that's fine. To each their own.

See, another stupid comeback. How, has anything I posted on here given you a reason to think that? Any true defensive coach who wants a statistically good defense in order to move up the ladder would much rather be a DC with an offense that controls the ball rather than one that uses little time off the clock, and keeps the defense on the field. Now, I might or might not be a shitty coach, but nothing I've stated in this thread proves otherwise good or bad.

Meh, doubling your salary will make most people do shite they don't want to do. Your contention is overblown, even if true.

Oh, money talks no doubt. As does trying to move up the ladder. I'm sure a DC wouldn't mind being at a powerhouse school with a HUNH offense compared to a loser school with a ball control offense. I'm just stating in general terms that's the talk in coaching circles from high school to college if you had your druthers. Money and situations will change your mind.

you must remember, that high school coach was the reason AU went to the NC twice during his time at AU.

No, that would be Cam and Fairley in 2010 and pure luck in 2013.

Well, whatever it was, it's clear it's something UGA lacks. But here's to beating AU.

What's really amazing is that Auburn still hasn't found anyone to take the job.

A quick Google tells me that the following schools have hired a DC since the end of the regular season. Any others?

Alabama
Michigan
Ohio State
BYU
Maryland
E. Carolina
Missouri
USCe
