The FBI doesn't give two shits about the recruitment of Cam Newton, roach. Get that through your head. The FBI is *not* an investigative arm of the National Collegiate Athletics Association. Never has, never will be.
100% agree... but the FBI investigate in Mississippi just for fun. there had to be some reason of interest of a Federal crime and what exactly that is, no one really knows. Paying Cam is perfectly legal, however where that money comes from and how it is reported can be another thing.

How would they find out through John Bond?

I think it is perfectly logical that Cam went somewhere for free after his dad asked for money and was turned down. Did Cecil have the right contacts to get paid at AU? I don't know. It is possible, but it isn't like it is the only reasonable conclusion.
There may not be a smoking gun, but you dont find it the least bit suspicious that:
A) Cecil wanted money for his kid, but all of a sudden relented, or
B)Cecil had the chance in a recent interview to say Auburn didnt pay us and yet did not take the opportunity to say that?

I am not dreading the outcome at all - at the end of the day I am a fan of a team - what happens to said team would be a dissapointment, sure - but would in no way affect my life in a negative manner.
So I take it you don't go to AU football games. I know life is much more than football, but tailgating and going to your teams games in the fall is a tradition. A tradition that is 100 times better when your team is elite.
Any AU fan who says that their life won't be affected by a guilty ruling is either lying or never attends the games.

Its cool, i mean, his dad took the opportunity to say auburn didnt pay him when he did that last interview......
oh wait, he didn't? Thats kind of funny. You would think a reverend would who didnt take money would unequivocally say, "They didnt pay me!" But he didnt say that, did he? Kinda odd.....

Of course it "affects" our lives, but his point was that most of us aren't going to commit suicide over it either. At the end of the day, it is just football. And yes, I go to every game

You may be a tad off base with this. You may be right about the FBI not being interested in the recruitment of Cam but they may have thought the NCAA would be interested in some of the evidence they have uncovered.
If you think the FBI and Federal prosecutors, while gathering and organizing evidence for a federal case, ever even once takes into consideration what the NCAA wants or needs, you are living up to your reputation as the newest little ATPB roach on the block.
"Hey Joe! Look at this! Let's put a red Post-it label on this page so we don't forget to tell the NCAA all about this one!"
Hey... when you go back to talk to your fellow ATPB roaches, make sure you update them on your new theories on the Knights Templar involvement in AU recruiting as well, OK?

if they can make a story, they will make a story
large exchanges of money lead to tax evasion cases, which the FBI loves to pursue
also, it's possible (not probable) that there is federal pressure to break the NCAA. anti trust rumblings against the BCS and possible suits by state attorneys may open up the path
if you had told me a year ago that our federal agencies were running illegal guns into mexico, i'd have had the same reaction you are to this recruiting shite
the main thing is that cam newton is different. he was a famous athlete IN college who was being investigated for ineligibility. when was the last time a major star in CFB had this occur (while he was playing)?

Except through school zones and neighborhoods, I tend to drive faster than the speed limit. Bad habit, I know, but I just do.
I don't live my life in fear of getting a speeding ticket. Haven't got one in 20 years. I very well MAY get another one one day. I don't enter my car with clammy palms and cold sweat running down my back in fear of that day, however.

i don't know. they probably wanted to hear his story and how it might relate to another investigation. and the FBI may not have learned anything criminal from their meeting w/ him. however, there had to be a reason they took the time to meet w/ him and I don't buy Bond's statement about the meeting.. "They don't want people shopping children around for thousands of dollars." There had to be something of interest from an existing investigation that tweaked the FBI's interest when they heard about Cam, Cecil, Kenny Rogers and Bond.

Auburn would be better served if Cecil had a muzzle. Y'all got any laying on the shelf at the vet school?

Either that or someone follow him around with one of those big tranquilizer guns they use at the zoo. At this point, I would be willing to pay Cecil $180,000 to just STFU.

You're trying to look at each piece of evidence in a vacuum though, without looking at the wole picture. It isnt these peices of evidence on their own, its when they re added together.
1)Cecil wanted money. Cecil then lied about wanting money until forced to come clean.
2)In his last interview given cecil did not say he took no money from auburn, despite being given that chance.
3) Ncaa has been investigating for 8 months. I am not aware of any investigation that the ncaa has made that took this long and didnt result in a guilty verdict.
4) Sherridan's sources are saying they think they have the bg man and are trying to get him to come forward.
5) The FBI was interested enough in the cse to at least interview John Bond, if only it was one time.
You dont think all those things together paints a pretty grim picture of the situation?
