Secondly, murder rates are correlated to a bunch of other factors. Two of the more significant factors being poverty and low quality of education. Guess what ethnic group has been [to some extent] systematically held in environments with both of these factors for the entirety of our nation's history?

I don't see how any of this relates to Leach's ill-thought-out Twitter post though. It's a nothing-burger that people [like you] have used as an excuse to spout out their nonsense.

Let's call it what it is.....The culture.

So stupid. I am a democrat. I saw that meme before Leach posted it and didn’t think anything of it. Shannon Sharpe should shut the frick up.

Yeah, the hip-hop culture and “Don’t ever snitch” philosophy has nothing to do with it!”

You would think it would be true in Appalachia. . But it's not.

It's a cultural problem.

Removing statues, crying about noises ain't going to help a bit.

If you don't think a massive amount of crime doesn't happen in rural areas then you haven't spent a lot [read: any] of time in these areas. There are parts of Mississippi where theft (of varying degrees) basically goes un-investigated. These areas tend to have rampant drug and alcohol abuse as well. Murder is less common only because there is much less human-to-human interaction than in cities.

Homicide rate in Appalachia is dwarfed by the inner city. Not even close.

I am pretty left leaning, and I don't get why people think this is fireable. Is it in poor taste to post a noose when you represent a public Uni in MS? Maybe, but leach is from Cali, I doubt he really knows much about the history of Mississippi.

He deleted it and apologized. That should be enough for now. If he posted it again, then sure fire up the outrage. But I would hate for him to get fired over such a small mistake.
