That’s not exactly “ripping a new one” in my book, but he did what he should’ve done, defended his man. I fully concede some in the trade focus on stirring up merde … that should only be the MO of a columnist … instead of documenting what happened for the readers. And documenting what happened for the readers has become less of a priority than it should be. That’s not a recent problem, however. It started with the famous “Chipmunks” in New York in the 1960s who started the trend of sports writers writing for each other and not their readers.
