Why do SEC teams keep scheduling Clemson, when the act of doing so is clearly one of the top 3 reasons that we are doing so well in recruiting?

The knock on Clemson is that "You play nobody in the ACC". If that were left to be true, many of these 5 star recruits would not come here knowing that they would get no national exposure.

Having a couple SEC games per year mixed in with our ACC schedule, guarantees that they will likely be rested and healthy for a big national event.

My question is why does your school continue to help Dabo and Clemson with recruiting? Whatever the reason, THANK YOU!

I’ll answer your question with my own question.

Why does a grown man still use his nickname he got as a toddler?

Why doesn’t Clemson move to a conference where football is played? Serious question.

It's required by law in SC.

Clemson wants the SEC bump to help their SOS
SEC teams see it as a good game and plus they are willing to play home and home instead of the neutral site crap.
Even if you lose it doesn't kill you from SOS standpoint if you win out and win SEC.

I'm uncertain why we did so, other than we had a hole on the schedule to fill after another team backed out. Clemson may be ACC, but they have a true SEC-style DL. Props to them for that

No, it isn't. There was a bill passed for one specific year, but I am obviously not talking about SCAR.

I am talking about the Georgia's, the LSU's, the Auburn's. They have nothing to gain by scheduling us amidst their brutal schedule, where our entire recruiting model would collapse if we couldn't get those games.

Because despite the narrative SEC teams are usually will play anyone. Just look at the different match ups across the board the last 5 years in SEC openers or second games. We give Clemson chit but you guys are like an SEC team, a weird one but similar in the way you guys approach your program.

I know this is baffling to consider, but the SEC tries to schedule good teams for good football games.

Serious answer, Clemson is one of a small group of teams that fit perfectly as an elite-level OOC game for some teams.

Natural rivalry with UGA, Auburn, South Carolina. Highly ranked so it isn't a boring, expected win for the SEC team, and local enough that fans from both sides can travel. And fans from both sides know of each other.

Florida State, Miami and Texas (when good) fall into that group too.

Playing an elite Pac 12 team like Oregon or USC, there's an unknown factor... it's interesting but not familiar like the closer teams. Same goes for the Big 10 teams like Michigan, Ohio St, Penn St etc. Those are more intersectional.
Clemson, Texas, the Florida teams- they're not really intersectional, just out-of-conference.

At the expense of your conference losing kids like Etienne out of Louisiana or Lawrence out of Georgia but to name a couple. I find it strange, but I like to ponder the imponderables, and Clemson likes to look at everything as total warfare. Never help the enemy. Again, thanks for the leg up though.

We scheduled Clemson because we had to cancel our Oregon home and home for 18’/19’. Oregon was not able to or willing to swap home games with us after we joined the SEC and gave up a home game annually because of the fiasco of playing Arkansas in JW.

Clemson was available on short notice and playing Clemson the last two times we had series’ was positive for all the fans. For us it was either that or nothing.

Don't see this as a loss, since J. Fields came to Athens.

However, D. Watson was a different story.

People need to take it down a notch with their emphasis on these games for recruiting. It's 2018. Recruits don't have to wait to see a team wander past to know about them. Just playing a location game is a lot less helpful for recruiting than some people think. Recruits that can't wander over can just get an OV invite to a particular game to see what's what.

Before this is over with, you will, but I am not talking school specific. I am talking conference. These kids all grew up in the middle of SEC country. It is what they know. If they didn't come to Clemson they would end up at one of your schools for certain. Without question, and if your schools did not continue to schedule us, they would not come to Clemson. Again, without question.

It is not the kids seeing. It is the kids being SEEN.

Nobody is watching our conference games. Maybe FSU when they are decent, but that is it. Kids want to know that they will get TV exposure when they play. SEC scheduling us guarantees that without having to get beat up EVERY week. Win/Win for Clemson recruiting.

It has become one of our biggest selling points.
