I highly doubt Kelly would be their third option in that case.

You could be right, but he has been mentioned more than once and he would definitely go to LSU. if they get turned down by Fischer and Herman I wouldn't be surprised to see them go for the sure thing of Kelly.

Did this change from last year?

With this logic why would any coach want to coach in the SEC?

Urban Meyer left pretty quickly.

Gotta get a dig in on the Rebs...But for the most part, you're right. FSU is a pretty sweet gig, as is Clemson, because we're in a league that wants to be serious about football, but half of the schools don't.

I almost wish those rumors about us and FSU leaving the conference were true, but instead we picked up Louisville and for some reason...Syracuse and Pitt. Think we missed the boat on West Virginia when the Big East split

Florida fan chiming in:

Jimbo is a CEO-type coach that can delegate and knows to build a monster recruiting regime (not that LSU doesnt already recruit well). The fact that he also knows how to mentor QBs is a big positive for a team like LSU who has struggled in that side of the ball. His biggest problem is that he is loyal to assistants and needs to shitcan his OL coach and DC. I think it is about as surefire a hire as they will find in the market so I get it.

Personally, I'd love to see FSU scramble to replace Jimbo and I think it only helps UF in recruiting.

I wonder what the chances are of him coming in and keeping Aranda. I know LSU fans would love that but it isn't that common.

Offensive minded coach who generally has good QBs, something we have lacked for almost 10 years.

This ^

LSU wants a QB, and a respectable offense so bad they have tunnel vision. I dont think Jimbo is a homerun hire, but I do think he is a good hire.

What LSU fans need to be ready for is the fact that Jimbos teams play down to their competition often. He is going to lose a game or two per season that he should win. It may be more fun to watch, but the end results will be similar to Miles.

If Jimbo was the answer he would be dominating the ACC. That conference has been incredibly weak. If hes not stacking trophies over there he damn sure aint gonna do it in the SEC.

Wait. Before now LSU fans were being told "Lol Jimbo isn't leaving FSU for LSU".. implying that Jimbo is a great coach and above LSUs station.

That's called listening with insecure ears, friend.

Who the frick else could we reasonably get who has a better resume than him? Jimbo is the best we can possibly get outside of Herman.

Probably should have kept Leslie, then.

He has 4 division and 3 conference titles in 7 years.

Question: How many active coaches have a national championship on their resume?

Jimbo is a fine coach and has always done well with developing quarterbacks, which has been LSU's bugaboo for nearly a decade now.

At the end of the day Jimbaw has a National Title on his resume.

I personally want Herman but would be more than fine with Jimbaw.

Who knows? 2012 was probably the second best post-natty team under Les and still lost to Dabo.

Name Recognition. That's it. PLUS, he is a pretty good coach. I don't know whether he has the energy to be an outstanding coach, because an outstanding coach gets to the office at 6:30 am and leaves at 8:30 pm.

FSU has recruiting advantages....but you guys might be on the verge of dominating the ACC. You have yet another young talented QB coming up and your recruiting seems to be getting better. Nice combination.

Honestly? I think Les would have had 5 years in which he would have won either his division or conference title in the ACC with his LSU teams. You gotta remember, Saban was the only thing stopping him from doing something similar in the SEC. Had LSU been in the SEC East.....easy 5 division titles.

Saban has skewed expectations for everyone, I can't imagine being in the same division with him.

But Jimbo has comparable talent at FSU, and a much weaker schedule. Only time they have really been relevant nationally was with a phenom future NFL star, and they don't just grow on trees. I would rather gamble on Fedora who has has reasonable success under really harsh conditions at UNC.

Just my opinion, could well be wrong, but not meant in anyway as a flame.

He was a vital part of LSU's most recent national titles.

Yes, most of the credit goes to Satan for the first one but Jimbo developed the QBs that brought us to both the 2003 and 2007 title game.

And he made Jamarcus "I don't give a frick about anything" Russell a number one pick.
