Its actually almost a badge of honor. We've accomplished something new and unheard of, and to do it by BEATING the SEC champion while doing it makes it even more surreal and awesome.
Only a bama fan could flip it into some sort of special accomplishment.

they probably cared in 1973 when they claim a NC for winning SEC but then lost to ND in Sugar Bowl

Oh, you mean when the NC was awarded before the bowl?
Everybody DID know the UPI would be awarded before the bowl right? It wasn't a special, early, awarding was it? They knew on Aug 1st that the UPI NC would be awarded before the bowl was played, right?
Just so we're all clear here...

ask a wild card team that won the world series if it bothers them that they failed to win their division crown.

I don't know, you tell me. That's fricking lame.

alabama should thank espn for putting them in the national title because after all it was espn that promoted them to number 2

Not at all. We have plenty of SEC championships already.

BTW, you forgot to add 2011 to the list

We have 22 SEC titles. You want some? We have so many we will gladly give a few to ya.
Nope. I don't care one bit that we failed to win the SEC. The trophy that matters most from this year is now in Alabama's possession.

Just as I suspected. You don't know what the eff you're talking about.

Thats the way the system was though. We didn't design it, we just won it. You might as well bitch about "at-large" teams and automatic qualifiers in the BCS selections.
The 1973 system was changed, just as the BCS will be changed, but that doesn't negate the championships won under those rules.

Of course it does. How else do you expect them to rationalize our total number of NCs down to a point that it doesn't make their program look like complete shite in comparison.
They can't even talk about how we haven't won anything since the 70s anymore. Let them have that. Continue laughing at how pathetic they are, but don't take it away from them.

It's been 20 years since the formation of the Bowl Coalition - the first system designed to pit #1 and #2 against each other in the postseason. Since that time, Alabama is tied with Florida and Nebraska with the most national championships won in that twenty year period.
Either way you slice it, whether it's the 20s, or the 30s, or the 60s and the 70s, Alabama has been dominant in every era of college football.

It would be nice to add it to the trophy case, but I haven't really thought about it.

I care. Winning the National Title is great but it doesn't quite match the satisfaction of an undefeated season.

2000-2009? Since you are naming decades here.

Dominant. Decade. 2009 is 1 year bro. There were 9 others than decade. Just saying.

It's a fair question. I think if the tables were turned I would have the same attitude of most people responding here. SECC is huge but NC edges it out for sure.
