Muschamp is doubtful. I really think AU could have gotten him last year. I do not think UF takes a chance on a guy that has never been a head coach. You learn a LOT those first few years of being the head man in charge of EVERYTHING. I really think Chiz's time at ISU was incredibly helpful in preparing him for the AU job. In the same sense, I think Mullen is MUCH more qualified with a year of running an SEC program under his belt at MSU.

If I was UF, no way I would hire anyone that has no NCAA headcoaching experience, regardless.

I don't think Muschamp would have gone to Auburn, but otherwise, I think you are spot on.

Might not have considering the way he left and how he felt about Jacobs and the administration at AU.

I am happy with cheesewiz though!

Muschamp reminds me so much of a young Bob Stoops. They both were tutored by a number of top coaches. Stoops learned from Hayden Frye, Bill Snyder and Steve Spurrier. Muschamp worked under Saban, Tubberville and Mack Brown. I don't think Muschamp will have any problems adjusting to being a HC.

I think no matter what, a coach will struggle in the SEC if he has zero previous head coaching experience and will make major mistakes his first year and be somewhat overwhelmed at a place like UF.

You are very wise. And you provide astounding insight that I doubt many others have even considered.

Petersen
Mullen
Harbaugh
Patterson
Whittingham
Mendenhall
Muschamp

Being that all would take the job, I doubt it goes any further than one from this lot.

We could have gotten him but his cash requirement was extremely high. Without explaining too much had Chizik not interviewed so well we'd have Muschamp as a head coach.

The one man no one has mentioned. The one man destined for the job of Florida Head Coach.

Steve Spurrier.

I don't get all the love for muschamp. At LSU, everyone knew Saban created and ran the defense. Muschamp was DC in name only.

At Texas, their D doesn't impress me as a strength. I haven't looked at their rank or numbers, so maybe I'm wrong. Just seemed to me they gave up a lot of yards and points.

They better stay away from the Mountain West with this hire. That stuff will not work in the SEC.

Shanahan and Mularkey will not get the job..Foley will go with a more proven college guy.

I think Petersen, Mullen, and Harbaugh, are the chalk.

Shannahan is an NFL coach, a great NFL coach, he will be at the Skins next year. I think the gators need stoops. I grew up in Nebraska went to school at UT, but I grew up a huge husker fan. I would love for Stoops to come to SEC country, I love to hate the man, but have mad respect for him. Stoops would be a monster at Florida.
