I don't think you understand how these OOC match-ups are determined.

I dont think you do actually....

Clemson and Miami were already tied down with their OOC key matchups for 2019

At that point, the ACC was out of legit opponents. Duke was honestly one of the better picks at the time

There was zero "fear factor"

The only way this would happen is if Texas was playing a Nazi/Al Queda All Star team and then it would be a tough call. Otherwise Geaux Tigahs!

Wrong - Bama signed a contract well in advance to get paid a shitpot of money to show at Mercedes Benz stadium to play an ACC team. No one is quite sure who that team would be. You do realize there are other teams in the ACC besides Clemson? The Chick-Fil-A people in a sense "broker" the game in that they are responsible for finding the opponent. Bama will be there ready to play, so ACC schools who wants a big pay day to play Bama?

The answer we got back was: Duke.

If the Shrimp Boat springs a leak in Austin, the site will implode.

And it had nothing to do with bama fear. It had everything with Bama agreeing to play a team from the acc with no idea how the scheduling would work out

Plenty of informed fans shite on your old AD for getting into that contract in the first place not knowing the opponenet

Duke finished with a better record than Miami this season.."Top 10 Miami."

We should gloss over that though

Texas definitely put everyone on notice. Their QB was shades of Tebow but faster. Herman is an odd duck, but the man can flat out coach.

We have our work cut out for us, but LSU restored SEC honor where AU failed last year, and we'll do it again where UGA failed this year.

Miami sucked this year

I am just pointing out the acc "power" teams werent afraid of bama in the chik fil a game.

FSU already played yall
Clemson was already scheduled with a&m
Miami was scheduled with UF

Duke was actually one of the better ACC teams coming off 2015

Dude - no one is excited about a neutral site with Duke I assure you. Also as I have pointed out that is one clunker in 19 years and bama has done far better at scheduling OOC games than anyone else in the SEC

B/T/W - The process was identical for the games at AT&T in Dallas only with the PAC12. Bama did the exact same thing under identical terms. Now Byrne was a little smarter about it: there were two Pac12 teams that had an open date for 2021 and one was Southern Cal. We just did AT&T with those guys so it was pretty much a lock that USC would take the game and rematch. We were more careful that we didn't get stuck with a Duke type game again.

So are you backing off yall ended up with duke because of "fear"? That is my only point in all of this

Unfortunate scheduling and timing is how you ended up with duke. Its an anomaly for bama in their OOC scenario

I am saying no one in the ACC stepped up to take the game. We have Miami next year. Clemson doesn't want to open with us because its more than likely we see them in the playoffs. I have no idea why any other school wouldn't take that payday because he rest of the conference are basically basketball schools so who cares if you get beat. No one was interested other than Duke.

It sucks but that is how this came about. Battle was the dumbass who took the money grab but got the fans a shitty game.

Hopefully, the net result is that these neutral site games go away. There's just no atmosphere.
I'm good with "pseudo-neutral" games (LSU vs someone at the Superdome, Wisconsin playing in Green Bay, etc), but those are few and far between.

LSU playing in Austin will be fun. Texas playing in BR will be fun.
Bama castrating Duke in Atlanta will not be fun.

Their DC (Orlando) threw the kitchen sink at us and beyond their QB's rushing abilities their offense wasn't as impressive as I thought they'd be especially
since we were without 6 starters and had that many true freshman playing.

You guys absolutely have the athletes to beat em.Just have to limit mistakes and take advantage of their blitzes which we didn't do once last night.

It is just a scrimmage game to Bama.

I would prefer a trip to Austin or South Bend but its not in the cards for a couple more years.

Hey UCF fans are talking about their 2 deep roster. Call UCFs AD White and ask them if they are interested in playing a 1 and 1 series.
