I don’t believe that. My neighbors son didn’t get into UGA or Bama. He was told there was little chance of qualifying but he applied anyway. AU welcomed him and his average scholastic record. He graduated from AU three years ago.

If you want to work for NASA, Apple, etc you go to Auburn, TAMU, GT, etc… bama grads can’t even afford iPhones….

Well, I can't tell you the acceptance rate at Auburn from 7 or 8 years ago. I can only share what it's been like the last couple of years with my kid college hunting.
From an SEC standpoint she applied and received scholarships from LSU Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Alabama - she was accepted into Auburn but did not receive a scholarship - and this was a HS student with a 4.4 GPA and 30+ on her ACT

Kids around here who can’t get into Georgia and Bama usually end up at AU or UT. And the truly academically challenged end up at SC

He’ll have a great time. That’s a really good program and Auburn is a special place. Congrats to you and him.

It’s still much better than uat’s acceptance rate (39% vs 85%)… btw UAT ranks even lower than UAB in the USNWR and WSJ rankings. UAT is the new Birmingham-Southern now…
UAT and Auburn have both historically averaged ~80% acceptance rate. This new 44% number that continues to be quoted was for the early enrollment period, which admits only the highest ranked applicants.
It was a clever way for the Auburn admin to convince people Auburn is difficult to get into.
It’s not. At least not any more difficult than most of the rest of the SEC, outside of Mississippi.

This has been explained to them many times and they're never going to acknowledge it. It's a waste of keystrokes at this point, but I admire your perseverance.

Do you have a source for this claim?
Everything I have read from third party sources state a 44% acceptance rate, I have even read a 39% acceptance rate for 2024. I haven't read anything or seen any third-party publication state that Auburn has an 80% plus acceptance rate
Plus I can tell you from personal experience that Auburn is not as easy to get into as it once was

For architecture?
Dumbass

My oldest is attending KU for architecture. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would have a kid in Lawrence. She’s happy so money well spent. I still wear my Mizzou gear when visiting and write a nice comment in the memo line of the occasional check.

Strangely, the multiple media outlets that make money on collecting this information are not up to tRants standard for accuracy.

Years ago, I’d walk by the architecture school and the lights were always on in that building on Magnolia.
I knew a couple of guys who studied architecture. They’d spend endless nights working on projects. The grading system seemed severe. These projects were models of whatever and extremely elaborate. Most of them got C’s.
That was early 1980s so maybe it’s changed now.

I’m going to get bashed but it’s a terrible degree for the money and the amount of work involved. I would never tell anyone what to do but they couldn’t get a job coming out of college to save their life. Graduating college in 2009 in the worst economic crisis in 80 years kind of left a mark
