Kiffin stays at the front of CFB innovation.

Dude just bends rules until they damn near break. Just like faking injuries.

Is the Lane Kiffin rule assistant coaches can't sleep with the head coach's daughter?

I like all of this for the most part, but I feel like Congress has other things they should be prioritizing their time to focus on

There are sooooo many easy, common sense things that would help turn this shite around but for some reason they never happen. Mainly because 1) the people making millions/billions off the sport DGAF, or 2) pantywaist retard judges keep overturning common sense.

1x free transfer, 5 years out of high school, and pro player bans make a ton of sense to me.

Hard to regulate the rest, but these things would instantly improve collegiate sports.

I'm all for limiting the time when coaches can change jobs, but you can't do that without dramatically changing the recruiting and portal schedule.

No way. That is still allowed.

A lot of these proposals wouldn't withstand a lawsuit

for instance
quote:

The NCAA’s settlement of three antitrust cases (commonly referred to as House) ushered in athlete compensation directly from schools to athletes but within a capped system similar to the NFL’s salary cap. Next year, each school has $21.3 million to spend on all of their athletes, but many programs, in order to achieve an advantage in a competitive recruiting environment, have redirected corporate sponsor cash to their rosters disguised as third-party NIL — compensation that doesn’t count against the cap

codifies portions of the NCAA’s House settlement by granting legal protection to the NCAA and College Sports Commission to enforce strict standards in prohibiting third-party NIL deals..

You can't limit what a player can earn off the football field. That would be akin to telling pro sports league that their players have a cap on what they can earn from endorsements. It will never fly.

quote:

bars coaches from leaving their team before the season ends.

this will be a problem too. Coaches have contracts. Those contracts have liquidated damages clauses for situations like that. You can't force someone to work somewhere or prevent them from working somewhere else.

Effectively none of this can be accomplished without collective bargaining that Ted Cruz is basically trying to circumvent.

Lane Kiffin rule to try to restrict movement of coaches who are in the CFP I'm sure would be met with legal challenges.

The only way that works is to completely change the calendar: No more early signing period, move all CFP games up to where they conclude before transfer portal opens, etc.

That "Lane Kiffin rule" means Ole Miss would have been forced to let Kiffin coach the playoffs and then he could leave......exactly what Kiffin was trying to do

It's Ted Cruz. It won't work. The only way it could not work more is if Bernie Sanders was the co-sponsor.

Some of the ideas sound nice, but will get torn to shreds in court.

Can't stand agents and their bullshite but even I recognize you can't put a limit on agent commissions.

Cruz is/was a lawyer... how would he like to have a max hourly rate or a max commission on damages awarded? Laughable.

Limiting what anyone earns instead of letting the market decide is definitely not capitalism.

Do you have trouble reading?

"- makes it illegal for coaches to leave their teams before the season concludes and schools cannot hire coaches before a season concludes — something those on Capitol Hill refer to the “Lane Kiffin Rule,”

Ole Miss would have been forced to let him keep coaching the playoffs without mandating he sign an extension.

LSU would have hired him after the playoffs

This will never happen. The government won't force someone to work against their will.

I am just saying if it was a rule as stated, it would be exactly how Lane was trying to do it

That is factual
